The Public School Scam |
The American public schools are controlled by neo-fascist, crypto Communist
teachers unions that are indoctrinating the nation's schoolchildren to be
good little Commies, anti-American pinheads, sex-crazed morons, and
environmentalist wackos.
Parents and their children should have control over their family's
education, not some government bureaucrat. The teachers should serve the
parents and the children, not the other way around.
In that light, we need to either eliminate the public school system in favor
of a private voucher system (if you are still worried about getting poor
people educated, USE PRIVATE CHARITY, NOT TAXPAYER MONEY!!!) or we must
drastically limit the curriculum of public schools so they don't teach the
children anything political, philosophical, moral, or religious (that
includes no teaching of atheism or religion). Secondly, we need to either
outlaw all teacher unions or institute a system where three or more unions
compete for the teachers' loyalty in each school district.
Remember, however, it is parents and their children who should have the
ultimate say over their family's education. Ultimately, if a person feels
that he or she has not being given the kind of education he deserves, he or
she should take complete responsibility over his education. There is no
excuse for American illiteracy. American illiteracy ultimately is not the
government's responsibility; it is the responsibility of every individual
and his family to become literate. More government money will not solve this
problem. By the way, if we eliminated the public schools and all public
welfare, we could virtually eliminate the illegal immigration problem that
is destroying America's borders, language and culture!

Only if this sex takes place at a PETA rally, or on top of a

It would also help if an abortion followed.

Punblicly funded support for schools should be eliminated, but not for the
reasons you claim. The schools are ineffective and a waste of taxpayer
money. Spending more money won't change that. The school system worked
fairly well as long as the U.S. was fairly homogeneous culturally and
linguistically. No publicly supported school system can work well in a
culturally and ethnically diverse society.
People will then get educated the same way they did for millenia before the
govt started educating children. Having the govt control education leads to
greater divisions in society. A one-size-fits-all concept invariably
causes friction and alienation in the majority of youth.

Good idea. I'm sure all the kids will go for that and around here the
parents are actively involved.
They staff the fireworks booth in July, are there for the bake sales, and
inhabit the stands during the football season.
But where would you send the kids that are not very good at sports?
Or the ones who just don't look good in a uniform?
It would make for an interesting curriculum, baseball, football, basketball,
rally I, II, III
Cheerleading, dance, music listening, soccer.
I guess "sitting in the stands" could be a class for those who are not cool.

You don't understand.
Any school that doesn't display the Protestant-only version of
the Ten Commandments, lifted straight out of the King
James bible, is teaching atheism.
Any school that doesn't teach fundamentalist Protestant tenants
(such as a literal interpretation of Genesis) is teaching atheism.
Any school that respects Jewish, Catholic & non-fundamentalist
Protestant students just as much as fundamentalist whack jobs
(and decides to let the kids take their religious instructions at
home & at church) is teaching atheism.
If you disagree then you are a liberal-lefty, Communist, feminist,
homosexualist who hates motherhood & America and wants to
see our troops killed.
Or so says George Bush, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Bob
Jones & the rest of the lunatic right-wing.

I survived 12 years of Catholic education and became an atheist.
Teaching religion does not necessarily make one religious.
Most US kids go to public school. Yet only 4 - 14% (depending on which
poll you use) of Americans are atheists. Not teaching religion does not
necessarily make one an atheist either.

As someone who was raised in a Catholic family, I
can assure you that going to a public school DOES
NOT mean that you don't get a religious education.
Not one of the major religions fail to offer some sort
of religious education for children. Protestants have
their "Sunday School," Catholics have their CCD &
even Jewish kids can't get away without organized
religious teachings being thrust upon them.
Currently, the only kids not receiving a religious
education are the kids whose parents either don't
want them to get one, or find it too inconvenient to
provide it. There may be a small few who simply
can't afford it. As I recall, there was some cost
involved.

That why I say -- and it sounds like hype when I say it --
that it's pure malice behind the religion-in-school
campaign.
Think about it.
Their "solution" (religion in school) has no corresponding
problem. Nobody is without a religious education, unless
it's by their own choice. Unless...
UNLESS the "Problem" you're trying to correct is the
fact that not everybody chooses to educate their kids in
YOUR religion!
Then, yes, suddenly there is a "problem" that religion
in public school addresses. That problem is Jews.
That problem is Catholics. That problem is Mormons.
That problem is atheists. Heck, that "Problem" is
*Anyone* who hasn't chosen to indoctrinate their
children in fundamentalist Protestants Christianity.

Exactly. If school prayer were allowed, could you imagine the uproar if
a rabbi, or a imam, or a Wiccan priestess were invited to lead the daily
devotion?
As you noted, to them freedom of religion means freedom to practice
THEIR religion.

Hey, I would probably be a Christian now, except my college made me take

reality won out.

Once upon a time in alt.atheism, dear sweet Conspiracy of Doves (mark_dp73
@yahoo.com) made the light shine upon us with this:
I have never heard of any public schools that teach atheism.
Ours taught the history of religions as part of the culture they were
studying. I'm trying to imagine what they would teach about atheism that
couldn't be said in a sentence or two.

I notice you had nothing to do with any of that.

Secondly, we need to either
outlaw all teacher unions or institute a system where three or more unions
compete for the teachers' loyalty in each school district.
Because, after all, free markets does not apply to workers, only to
companies.

By the way, if we eliminated the public schools and all public
welfare, we could virtually eliminate the illegal immigration problem that
is destroying America's borders, language and culture!
I agree. The only way to stop illegal immigration is to reduce the
desire people have to come here. Either we help them improve their
countries or we sufficiently destroy ours. I prefer the former, you
prefer the latter.
