The Steeling the Mind Conference

"Steeling" the mind, eh?

You do have to wonder if it is some sort of sick joke being played by
the higher echelons who run these religions.

I enjoy those sessions. Usually, there isn't one during the speakers'
lectures. However, the speakers are accessible before and after the
lectures and during the lengthy lunch. You can always chat with them at
their book tables. The lines aren't too long.

Here's the full schedule, from here:
http://compass.org/conferences/default.html
Snide comments of my own are within ellipses.
"9 am Mike Gendron
Proclaiming the Gospel, TX The Best-Kept Secret in the Church
Almost every Christian alive today misses this one important doctrinal
fact. And once understood clearly, This secret literally changes your
life. Don't miss this one! Doctrine"
....Is the secret pyramid marketing? Pyramid marketing with a fancy
name, like crucifix marketing?...
10 am Mike Riddle
Train2Equip, WA Fail-Safe Method for Defending Creation
Would you like to be able to talk to any scientist, anywhere, any time,
and never lose?! Mike, a former Microsoft executive, Marine, and
decathlete, tells you how. Awesome visuals! Apologetics
...."Awesome visuals!"? Free-kay! I warn ya, doin' up a bunch of mind
steel is fun, but coming down is rough. Mike should come by talkorigins
some time and unload his 100 megaton creationist zinger. It won't work.
With any scientist. Anywhere. At any time....
11 am Ed Hindson
Liberty University, VA Armageddon-Past, Present or Future?
Some Bible teachers, including Hank Hanagraff and RC Sproul insist that
Armageddon has already taken place!? Really? Learn the Biblical facts
that expose this false teaching and the implications to Israel and the
Church if it's not refuted. Prophecy
....Uh oh! Dissent within the bowels of Freakshow Fundamentalist
Christianity! Time for an emergency denunciation!!...
1:30 pm Russell Humphries
Institute for Creation Research, CA Starlight & Time
If the light coming from a distant star is billions of light years
away, how could the earth only be about 6000 years old? One of the top
presenters from ICR answers this and much more using astrophysics and
Einstein's theory of relativity-in layman's terms! Apologetics
.....Hahaaahooo! Is this the "c ain't what it used to be" speech? The
trowels are put away at this point in the conference, and the really
big shovels come out....
2:30 pm Chuck Missler
Koinonia House, ID Prophets to the Gentiles
Finding application buried in the Old Testatment, Chuck raises a lot of
eyebrows with three prophets and uncanny parallels. Not for the faint
of heart. But always quite interesting :-) Prophecy
.....Translation: "This sounds like crap even to us, and we're just
barely clinging to reality with our fingernails"....
3:30 pm Andy McIntosh
Answers in Genesis, England The Intricacies of Flight
Andy, Professor of Thermodynamics and Combustion Theory at the
University of Leeds in Great Britain, is one smart cookie. Better yet,
he's an awesome communicator and will show you there is no way on God's
green earth that birds could learn to fly on their own. Apologetics
.....Once again, creationists demonstrate that any degree is good for
any purpose, 'cuz science is science, right? Who could possibly know
more about birds, evolution, and ID than a prof. of combustion theory?
Besides an ornithologist. Or evolutionary biologist. Or a biophysicist.
Or someone with some kind of professional training even remotely
involving birds....
4:30 pm Tim Kimmel
Family Matters!, AZ Why Christian Children Rebel
Nearly 90% of evangelical children leave the church after high
school-and many never return. Learn what choices like tattoos and body
piercings really mean. Family
.....Betcha $5 he says tattoos and body piercings violate the covenent
and allow demons to enter your body. The enemy is all around us.
Tattoos are the new lurking horror, replacing old favs like hot pants,
Elvis, grues, and socialists.....
6:30 pm Andy Day
DaySong Ministries, ID Praise & Worship
.....Hey, look! A worship activity! I think this part wouldn't actually
make Jesus weep....
7:00 pm Kent Hovind
Creation Evangelism, FL Facts Supporting Intelligent Design

From one of the top apologists in the country, learn fact after fact

supporting intelligent design over random evolution. Apologetics
.....Oh, brother. If Hovind is "one of the top apologists in the
country," then y'all got nuthin.' Evolution isn't random. Mutation is
random. Evolution works by natural selection. Hovind has already
committed his first major error, and his talk doesn't start for 12
days.....
8:00 pm Frank Peretti/Northern Cross Band, ID The Covering
Wow! This best-selling Christian author will not only make an awesome
knock-your-socks-off presentation but also perform with his popular
easy-listening Christian bluegrass band, Northern Cross! What a way to
end the day! Exhortation
......We finish with discussion of another mythical animal, the
"popular easy-listening Christian bluegrass band." Northern Cross is
all things to all genres. They're also an underground hip-hop disco
Turkish folk ensemble. And a smooth jazz deathmetal bagpipe quartet....

See you there!

It's $59.00! Why is everything Christian so blasted expensive? Oh
and I forgot to check the price on the Empty Tomb Pendant.
Liz #658 BAAWA
I could not believe that anyone who had read this book
would be so foolish as to proclaim that the Bible in every
literal word was the divinely inspired, inerrant word of
God? Have these people simply not read the text? Are they
hopelessly uninformed? Is there a different Bible? Are
they blinded by a combination of ego needs and naivete?

Oh, you should have checked - that's the funniest part!
The pendants come in silver and gold, with prices ranging from $299.95
for the small silver one, to $549.95 for the large gold one! (Which,
according to the site, is a great deal as they normally retail for
$849.95!)
AND, if you order now, we'll throw in this beautiful steak knife
ABSOLUTELY FREE!
Or something like that.
Oh, my, look: they also have Hand Cream guaranteed to be from the Dead
Sea itself! For only $14.95, you, yes, you can own this gen-u-ine piece
of Biblical History - in a HAND CREAM!
Marketing: I am more amazed every day with what people will buy.
Oh, yeah, then there's the contents of the conference itself. It would
just be pathetic if these weren't the people our current government is
kissing up to for their voting bloc.
