The Truth is God? |
If I denife God like this, can you atheists believe in Him?
1. The Truth is God (the matter of facts)
2. Everything that exists is God (God is everything
that exists)
3. A human being is not God, but a part of God
I don't try prove anything here. This is just a
definition. But I believe when you seek the truth
you are also seeking the possible God.

Then you would have us assume that there is an entity called Truth. In the
Hindu there is Varuna. Varuna is also God-truth.

You're still saying there is a being called god.
What part of NO THERE ISN'T don't you understand? Unless you're redefining
your god to mean that thing that you need to use as a mental crutch to get
through life, we're never going to agree.

Analogy: Freud's investigations of the mind led
him to develop a model of how the mind functions.
If we look at the physical structure of the brain, we
can't find any parts that we can point to and say
"here are the Ego, Id and Superego". But nontheless,
Freud's concepts form a model and that model
can be quite useful. But does the Ego, for example,
actually exist? Or did Freud try to define something
that doesn't actually exist into existence? My best
answer to that question is Ego exists as a concept
and the concept is useful. When you know the model
people can be see to operate as having an Ego.
This is repeatable and intersubjectively testable.
Now, in the case of God: Are you trying to define
something that doesn't actually exist into existence?
Does the God concept explain any objective or
even subjective phenomena? The answer to this
question, surprisingly, is "Yes the God concept
does explain some phenomena" and here it
is.
Through the practise of meditation a person
can enter a mental state known in yoga-speak
as samadhi. Samadhi can be characterized
as a feeling of one-ness with everything and a
one-ness of everything. Samadhi is also said
to feel *more real* than regular waking
consciousness. In Hinduism the one-ness is
known as Brahman or God (not Brahma but
Brahman. There is a difference.)
The "one-ness" is considered to be the true reality
and 'normal reality' as it is usually perceived is
considered to be an illusion. So, it is not at all
surprising that Hinduism is a pantheistic religion.
Also, this feeling of one-ness can be achieved
using certain hallucinogenic drugs.
So the God concept forms a model that explains
what happens through the practise of meditation.
(or smoking some really good *****)
This is repeatable and intersubjectively testable.
But it leaves the question Is God real or just a
state of mind?

In a message sent 'round the world, Jarmo Antero Manninen poured fuel on
the fire with the following:
If I denife God like this, can you atheists believe in Him?
How did your deity become nifed?
1. The Truth is God (the matter of facts)
2. Everything that exists is God (God is everything
that exists)
Deities cannot be defined into existence.
3. A human being is not God, but a part of God
Contradicts #2.
I don't try prove anything here.
And you have succeeded.
This is just a
definition.
I know.
But I believe when you seek the truth
you are also seeking the possible God.
There are plenty of gods that would be possible.

Josef

You are being equivocal with the term, 'God' with a capital G. That term
comes with it's own already well established load of baggage (Creator,
First Cause, Granter of Prayers, Meddler in Human Affairs, Chooser of
God's Chosen People, the Jews, etc. etc.)

That presumes one cannot escape the Judeo-Christian-Moslem tradition of
"God", which both begs a large number of serious questions and ignores
considerable varaitions in details.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then where does evil come from?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?

If I denife God like this, can you atheists believe in Him?
1. The Truth is God (the matter of facts)
2. Everything that exists is God (God is everything
that exists)
3. A human being is not God, but a part of God
Your definition is trivial and worthless.
