Object: The War on Eostre
It has not escaped my notice that at this particular season, the festival of
Eostre, that some people are making images of the Bunny which is a symbol of
the season out of chocolate. Copies of this desecrated image are being
distributed widely and very clearly intentionally to impressionable little
children.

Sacrilege! Next they won't let us celebrate Yule or Samhain!

The people who came up with those religions were much more imaginative

Absolutely - More into celebrating life than cursing their existence in
it
as well.

Exactly. They weren't obsessed with sin and guilt and death.

Nor should anyone be :(

I haven't been for the 46 years since I left that prison.

I couldn't imagine what it must have been like. My parents wouldn't win any
awards for their parenting techniques, but at least they didn't force a
religion on us.

My parents weren't so strict on religion. I had some aunts and uncles
who, if they were Muslims, would have likely joined the Taliban. I
actually started going to public school and completed kindergarten and
half of the first grade, but one of my crazy uncles talked my parents
into taking me out and putting me in the Catholic school gulag. I never
forgave him.

Yes. He was one of these people, I'm sure every family has one, who
claims to know everything about everything and keeps on reminding
everyone of the fact. At family gatherings, the only way to shut him up
was to either agree with everything he said, or wait until he drank too
much and fell asleep in a chair. Once he did that with one of his smelly
cigars and almost set the place on fire. Not my favorite relative. :-p

Thank goodness I don't have one of those! Then again, my side of the family
is extremely small and we rarely see each other. The last time we all got
together was almost 7 years ago.
