Here's the truth that radical christians don't want you to know:
1. God is a Loving and Forgiving God
2. God is all seeing and all knowing.
3. God understands the reasons Atheists don't believe in Him.
4. God blames Atheism on "righteous" Christians.
5. On judgement day, God will open the Gates for Atheists (see #1).
Of course, Christians so entrenched in their own false dogmas won't
see this and will fight it, but God knows this is the Truth.

I would like to propose two statements:

I think this statement is obviously true. I find it sad that most
Christians would disagree with it, probably because they think they
are not allowed to believe it. For example I am almost sure that Denis
disagrees with it. On the other hand I would bet that most atheists
would agree with this statement. Here is the paradox: in reality
atheists are freer to think than Christians - but the scriptures say
"truth will make you free".
2. If the God of infinite love and power exists then those people who
wrote large sections of the Bible were not inspired by her.
Again, I think this statement is obviously true. People can and do say
"God is love" and at the same time say things that directly contradict
this. The previous posts in this very thread evidence this.
What I would like atheists to consider is this: The fact that the
writers of the Bible or the posters to a newsgroup can be that
contradictory when speaking about God evidences the imperfections of
the respective writers but evidences nothing about God.
Hmm, maybe I would like to propose a third statement:

directly to her children and not through books or intermediaries.
This too I believe is a true statement, but, sadly, one that can be
used to argue that such God cannot exist: "I too am supposedly a child
of God and God should speak directly to me but God does not -
therefore God does not exist". I understand the sentiment but I think
people try to listen in the wrong place. The trouble here is with the
meaning of the verb "speak". God (if she exists) is not in any way a
material being and should not therefore be expected to speak to us in
any physical sense, for if she did it would be misleading. How is then
God to speak to us? I would say directly to our consciousness; it's
what I experience and moreover is the only logical possibility of
really *direct* communication. How? Well in principle it could be
through voices and visions or the experience of miracles - but these,
if real, must be very rare. Another way would be through an inward
process that allows us to discern what is true and what is not - a
process some Christians call the "inward light", an appropriate
metaphor. Now, an atheist would say that if all people possess such
inward guide then how come there is so much disagreement about what is
true. Well, the inward light is not the only thing that sways our mind
- see how some Christians call it "the small voice" or even "the
crushed voice". For example, tragically, many Christians' fear of hell
just cancels out this small voice. It seems to me the freer one is to
think the clearer this light shines. I hope I am not being insulting
to atheists when I point out that a great many number of freethinkers
do find the same parts of the Bible to be wrong/ugly and that should
therefore be rejected; which can be construed as evidence of this
inward light at work :-)
Here comes my fourth (and I promise final) statement:
