Thousands welcome Year of the Dog with grand US parade
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb 12, 2006 (PG) - Dragons, lions, dogs and Asian heritage
laid claim to Chinatown in San Francisco on Saturday during what was billed
as the grandest Lunar New Year parade in the West.
An estimated 200,000 people packed sidewalks as drummers, dancers, martial
artists, bands, and lighted floats wound their way from downtown into the
city's vibrant Chinatown to welcome the Year of the Dog.
