To my dear Jewish friends |
Happy New Year to all. Part of my resolve for the year 2007 is to
improve my relationship with factions on Usenet that in the past I may
have been at odds with. I would like to start with the Jewish
community. Shalom! From this point onward I would like to be considered
a friend of the Jewish peoples and the state of Israel. Part of this
friendship comes with a responsiblility to confront Holocaust deniers
wherever they hide. I would like to do my part but I need some help.
Perhaps if someone could answer these two questions, my task of
defending Jews would hold more legitimacy.
1) Where did the number "6 MILLION" come from? How was this number
derived?
2) Why has this number never deviated; despite the fact that every
combatant nation in the war has adjusted their casualty lists as more
archives have become available?

I suppose so. But I still think it is a useless term. Basically it
requires one to intuit another disembodied person's intentions. That's
useless activity. It is more often than not used as an epithet in and
of itself. Is Ed a troll? He seems to be Jewish after all. DoD,

But I behave myself and am quite careful what I say and write. Does it
actually describe me? I'm not like anyone else here, so it's useless as

The flaming and demonization of Mirelle has obviously been
counter-productive from the point of view of the Zionists here. They've

learned simply to ignore it. It will never work. She occasionly

least give him "credit" for accuracy in facts and figures, even though his

Apologies, I see I made the same mistake you did.
Appearantly you tryed to answer the initial post off-hand
but ended up with an appearant reply on my post,
en then you corrected it by replying to the original post instead.
When I was angry about your appearant snipping of my reation,
I tryed and answer the post that looked like a reply on my post,
and ended up with replying on your correct(ed?) reply on the original
post.
Anyhow 6 million is just the average of the different number scholars
have come up with.
The absolute minimum might even be 4,5 million, but it is a lot anyway.
And appearantly it was less then Hitler intended.

which was only interpreted by Christians in the mid-19th century.

By totalling the deaths in each country and adjusting by a "fudge
factor" based on the best beliefs of whether these counts are
overcounts or undercounts. In some countries, there are overcounts
because the same death is reported from more than one source. In some
there are undercounts as some types of deaths (particularly of the very
young) are not reported.

It has. In fact, more recent estimates will typically read "5 to 6
million". The best estimate I've seen is about 5.7 million, but it
likely undercounts the very young. So 6 million is still a good
estimate.
