"Make the weak force slightly stronger and no helium would have been
produced; make it slightly weaker and nearly all the hydrogen would have
been converted into helium."
"The window of opportunity for a universe in which there is some helium
and there are also exploding supernovas is very narrow. Our existence
depends on this combination of coincidences, and on the even more dramatic
coincidence of nuclear energy levels predicted by [astronomer Fred] Hoyle.
Unlike all previous generations, we know how we come to be here. But, like
all previous generations, we still do not know why."-New Scientist.
"The special conditions on earth resulting from its ideal size, element
composition, and nearly circular orbit at a perfect distance from a
long-lived star, the sun, made possible the accumulation of water on the
earth's surface." (Integrated Principles of Zoology, 7th edition) Life on
earth could not have appeared without water.

Are you suggesting that the universe is here for our sake? That it is
finetuned for life in general and us in particular? I want to know WHY you
think there is reason to believe something like that.

Ok, then tell me why. And no, you can't assume that it is here for our sake
and then try to show why it is. Just tell me, what facts would make you
draw such a conclusion?

I went my friens house the other day. he has a wonderful aquarium.
can you tell me how important is to maintain the proper enviroment, in order
to keep his fish alive?

So? The aquarium was created with that purpose of containting fish and
other whatever things you have there. How can you compare that to the
earth, which came into existence billions of years ago in the planetary
disk of dust around a young Sol? The earth has changed many times during
its lifetime and was not always suitable for human life, and it will
change again beyond recognition. Evolution could have taken a different
path and maybe then there would be no human life or any other kind of
species with what we like to call intelligence. The idea that the earth
was created for our sake is an unfounded assumption based on absolutely
nothing but your own wishful thinking. To make such an assumption is to
take a giant leap. Why put our species in the center of things? We're not
that important, you know. We exist because of many circumstances, and
simply because we can. You're going about things from the wrong
direction, and I believe quite a few have informed you of this. Maybe
some day you will listen to them.

Anybody who thinks that the universe was designed to bring forht
life isn't paying attention. Try working out what percentage
of the universe holds life sometime. Even if you assumed that
every planet was chock full of life, the fraction is still
incredibly tiny.
For the most part, our universe displays nothing but pitiless
hostility towards life.

Thats one of the wonderfull things being alive, out of the billions and
billions of stars we get to be the lucky one!
Atleast as far as we can see. Anyhow what weak force?

Try this one jamroll, if you're so smart:
Prove that with a stronger or weaker force that matter
wouldn't have occured in a different form.
I'm sure the bi(b)le discusses the physics somewhere, I just
want you to point it out.
