Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane
Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this Happen?"
(regarding Katrina)
Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She
said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but
for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get
out of our government and to get out of our lives.
And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out.
How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if
we demand He leave us alone?"
In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings,
etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was
murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer
in our schools, and we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The
Bible says thou shalt not kill! Thou shalt not steal, and love your
neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when
they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped
and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed
suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And
we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why
they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to
kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure
it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE
SOW."
Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why
the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers
say, but question what the Bible says
Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like
wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord,
people think twice about sharing.
Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely
through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in
the school and workplace.

"zhavriol" Felt the need to lie in an effort to bolster his religion,
( funny how that religion *needs* lies like this to look good ) and
posted an obvious embellished account of a real incident:

Why is it that xians have to lie so much, and how can they do it so
easily?

That's not so strange. Most people appreciate a good joke. Comparitively
few are interested in your god, whichever one that may be, and those who are
not interested will most likely be annoyed at having it foisted upon them.
If I told you I had discovered the Truth: that our one True Lord and Creator
is, in fact, a small rabbit with the unlikely name of Fluffy the

just pass over it?

Yes, her point is that she completely agrees with the inane comments from

Many believers, despite their constant protestations to the
contrary, see God as just a jumped-up volcano spirit. Volcano

Chuckle! Well, there was plenty prayer in my school. Every morning as a
matter of fact. And religious ceremonies too at various points throughout
the year. We even got dressed up and performed plays for our proud parents,
showing everyone what a swell guy Jesus was and what a good god God is.
What happened in our school? Bullying for the most part. We had big problems
with it. I remember one guy got stabbed with a sharpened stick. You could
have put him on a grill and served him with some chilli and garlic sauce.
This was in PRIMARY school.
I can see praying in the assembly hall really filled the attacker with Holy
Spirit! As for me? I didn't listen to that ***** when I was that age. But
I always knew it was wrong to stab someone simply because my parents told me
hurting people was wrong. No religion required.

This has been posted to this group at least three times in the last
two

zhavriol wrote:

(regarding Katrina)

No, Jane Clayson asked her that question *four years ago*,
regarding the 9/11 attacks
http://prayerfoundation.org/billy_grahams_daughter.htm
This gets recirculated every year or so about a different event,
often with Bryant Gumbel erroneously listed as the interviewer.
The funny thing is, after 9/11, America *did* become more
religious. Apparently God decided to reward this by sending
a couple of hurricanes at one of the most Christian regions
of the country.

He's apparentely too busy protecting Osama bin Laden.
Also, for the record, my definition of "leave me alone" most
definitely implies "don't send any hurricanes at me".

In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings,
etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was
murdered, her body found recently)

This should have clued you in. Her body was found in 2001
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madalyn_Murray_O'Hair#Disappearance_and_...

complained she didn't want prayer
in our schools, and we said OK.

Actually she wasn't the plaintiff. She supported the ten families
that didn't want a *mandated* prayer read in school in
New Hyde Park, New York *because it contradicted their
religious beliefs*.
I'm not sure about these parents, but it might come as a
surprize to you that many very religious people are rather
particular about the manner in which they pray, and don't
want the State to tell them how to do it any more than
atheists do.
And finally, for the millionth time, NO ONE said the "didn't want
prayer in school". The said they didn't want *manditory*
prayer in school. Is the difference really so hard to
comprehend.
Do you honestly believe that if school children all over
the country had been forced to recite prayers they didn't
believe, the 9/11 attacks or Katrina wouldn't have happened?

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The
Bible says thou shalt not kill! Thou shalt not steal, and love your
neighbor as yourself.

And then goes on to describe more bloodshed than any other book
in history.

And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when
they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped
and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed
suicide).

No, he didn't. This is an urban legend. Both of his children
grew up to be quite successful. Tragaically, hit *grandson*
committed suicide, but I think it would be a stretch
to blame him for that. A similar lie is often spread about
B.F. Skinner's daughter. In that case, there is absolutely
no basis in fact.
Ironically, child psychologist John Watson expounded a much
harsher and more "biblical" child rearing philosophy in the
1920's. It is *his* son that committed suicide.
http://www.snopes.com/medical/doctor/drspock.htm

We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And
we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why
they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to
kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

I guess that "suppression" is why this silly article has been bouncing
around the internet for over four years now!
Seriously, everyone's time is valuable, and in this day and age,
there's no
excuse for pasing on nonsense without even the most cursory fact
checking.
