Object: tobs: universal ground zero\ comments from Bernard Lovell
You probably know, though, that observations with larger telescopes have
since proved otherwise. Our universe contains at least 50,000,000,000
galaxies. We do not mean 50 billion stars-but at least 50 billion galaxies,
each with billions of stars like our sun. Yet it was not the staggering
quantity of huge galaxies that shook scientific beliefs in the 1920's. It
was that they are all in motion.
Astronomers discovered a remarkable fact: When galactic light was passed
through a prism, the light waves were seen to be stretched, indicating
motion away from us at great speed. The more distant a galaxy, the faster it
appeared to be receding. That points to an expanding universe!
Even if we are neither professional astronomers nor amateurs, we can see
that an expanding universe would have profound implications about our
past-and perhaps our personal future too. Something must have started the
process-a force powerful enough to overcome the immense gravity of the
entire universe. You have good reason to ask, 'What could be the source of
such dynamic energy?'
Although most scientists trace the universe back to a very small, dense
beginning (a singularity), we cannot avoid this key issue: "If at some point
in the past, the Universe was once close to a singular state of infinitely
small size and infinite density, we have to ask what was there before and
what was outside the Universe. . . . We have to face the problem of a
Beginning."-Sir Bernard Lovell.

I'm not up on Sir Lovell or his view on cosmology. Perhaps it never crossed
his mind that the entire question is about a meaningless as "what's north of
the north pole"?

practiced primitive science.

I see, therefore because Sir Lovell practice primitive science.. his
comments are invalid. I see...
so then you are claiming, that the Universe was always here...

I'm claiming that, given that time is a function of the universe and terms
like "before" and "always" are temporal, Statements like "before the big
bang" are meaningless. So, given the caveat that "always" falls somewhere
between 12 and 20 billion years, Yes.

The late (Sir) Bernard Lovell was a head of Department at Manchester

Jabbers is seriously misrepresenting him.

Everyone knows Jabriol and most of the other Jehovah's Witnesses do the same
thing. They're all required to read the Watchtower magazines - two that
come out bi-monthly. These magazines are where the JWs learn to use quotes
to their advantage by leaving out most of the articles they quote from! Or
they'll remove what doesn't agree with their beliefs. They take things out
of context. They do the same thing with the bible to make it look like the
bible backs their beliefs. You must take what they quote with a large grain
of salt knowing they do this all the time. It's a very dishonest thing to
do but they call it "theocratic warfare" and so see nothing wrong with this
dishonesty - it's all in the name of their god, Jehovah.

ad hominen notice.

The Internet's biggest hypocrite strikes again! Right after he whines
about this supposed ad hominem (although how you do a "to the man"
when talking of a publication is somewhat murky), he writes this
direct ad hom: "...after all since Carol, who IQ is about the size of

after all she hanged out with them for 20 yrs... yup..

She hanged out with them?

CAROL... just what are the 4 constants of the Universe????

lets see if you can maintain a science converstation...

A science converstation? What if, instead, you try to maintain a
grammatically correct *English* conversation and actually respond to
questions posed of you?
What do you say we have Carol answer your challenge when you have
answered some of the questions and challenges you've been running away
from since you first began posting classic examples of your appalling
ignorance on the Internet, including answering the questions I have
been asking of you since August? What do you say you quit your
pathetic wheedling ***** childish trash spattering and deal with
the issues? What do you say **YOU YOURSELF** deal with **THE
SCIENCE**?
Here are some of these issues yet again:
1. Admit that regardless of what it is classed as and regardless of
whether it was or was not in the line to birds, the archaeopteryx had
pretty much a fifty-fifty mix of reptile/dino and bird features and
therefore represented an example of a potential intermediate stage.
2. Admit that the okapi is pretty much what a transitional giraffe
would have looked like.
3. Explain what would prevent something akin to a mouse, from changing
300 genes over 60 million years to become either human or a modern
mouse.
4. Acknowledge that no evolutionist has ever claimed that modern birds
evolved from modern reptiles and that argument from incredulity
addressing this non-issue, no matter how ancient it is, does not
constitute a "colossal hole" in the Theory of Evolution.
5. Acknowledge that creationist letters published as a courtesy (or
maybe as a source of amusement) in _New Scientist_ are *not* the
equivalent of peer-reviewed science papers, no matter how ancient and
misguided they are.
6. Try to post a **LIST** of these "colossal holes" in the Theory of
Evolution that you've been lying about since August.
7. Admit that the informally peer-reviewed talk.origins archive is a
valid reference, especially when the articles to which I have
repeatedly refered you are themselves replete with references, many of
which are to peer-reviewed
material.
8. Realize what a pathetic hypocrite you are to demand peer-reviewed
material of others when you have never offered a single peer-reviewed
reference yourself - in fact, all you essentially do offer is
unreferenced, plagiarized, and all-too-frequently outdated argument
from incredulity.
9. Admit that the article you offered as a reference for your claim
that 75% of human DNA is the same as that of the banana actually
stated that *up to* 30% *may be* similar.
10. Offer even one useful reference for your subsequent and previous
claims that we are:
A. 90% identical to a banana in our DNA,
B. 60% identical to a banana in our DNA,
C. 50% identical to a banana in our DNA.
11. Admit that it is unsuprising that you get ad hommed and abused up
the wazoo entirely due to your own prior abuses, ad homs, ignorance,
stupidity, and intransigence in the face of overwhelming evidence that
you are not only completely wrong, you haven't ever been remotely
right.
The freight train's a-comin', Jabriol and you're still standing with
an idiot look on your face in the middle of the track expecting it to
be Jesus on a white charger! What an imbecile.

Well, in contrast to your constant lying, what did you expect.
you lied about me being disfellowshiped.
then you lied about me being an elder.
then you lied about me comming from a single family raised in camden.
you lied about me, telling people I live off welfare.
You lie about my daughters.
You just plain lie.
let see about more lies,

and yet you offer no proof.
everyone know your forge e-mail...
cut paste replies to give them a twist...
your only reposne when somebody ask for proof is..
"everybody knows"
you hatred for jw's is so evident, why would anybody bother to reply to a
chronic liar.
typical behaviour od people like you you hide under false names, and swap
e-mail headers, to avoid killfiles..
what did you expect?

now." :-)

Wize Willie....
All the JWs wish for is walking around the COUNTRYSIDE (never any towns
pictured in the WT rags) smiling like the village idiot and carrying
baskets of veggies and fruit with them. Also note they all live in suit
pants and dress shirts. The women live in housedresses of 1952 vintage.....
and they call that paradise? Any normal human being would rapidly be bored
to death looking at trees, grass, each other's ever smiling faces and eating
a vegetarian diet.
They'd soon be longing for a good book, a movie, a Mall or a steak
dinner..... (Carol)

Uhh...yeah. That's pretty much it. Science has no idea what came before the
Big Bang, and it has no idea what caused the Big Bang.
Is there a point here?

Jabriol is suggesting that his Jehovah of the Watchtower Publishing House
"created" everything from >> POOF << nothing one fine day.

What's even more funny is that Jabriol is suggesting that he's sane.
