Looking at my web site statistics for April, May, June, and July,
I find that a lot of additional Scientology traffic resulted from
the outrageously insane antics of Tom Cruise, not the least of
which is a huge spike in the number of people accessing the 20/20
transcripts covering the deadly, often dangerous, criminal cult.
In April the #1 web page was "Vanishing Point: How to Disappear
in America" at http://www.skeptictank.org/hs/vanish.htm with over
6000 hits.
In the #2 slot: "Is Tom Cruise Really Gay? SYNGE.com covers it"
at http://www.skeptictank.org/gen3/gen02088.htm with over 1700 hits.
Then we get #7 with the cult's WISE listing, #21 with Time Magazine's
coverage of the cult.
In May the #1 is again "Vanishing Point" with the WISE listing coming
in at #7 with 1530 hits. Time Magazine's coverage at #21 with over
580 hits and the 20/20 coverage at #27 with 529.
In June with Tom Cruise exhibiting what Scientology does to some
people's sanity, #1 is once again "Vanishing Point" with over 4600
hits.
In #7 it's "Reader's Digest Article Scientology: Anatomy of a Frightening
Cult" at http://www.skeptictank.org/readdig.htm with 3700 hits --
thanks Tom!
And in #8 it's amusingly "Horrible Truths for Scientologists: Body
Thetans by Roland Rashleigh-Berry" at
http://www.skeptictank.org/hs/htruebt.htm with over 3500 hits.
The 20/20 transcript is at #10 with over 2300 hits.
Of the top 30 web hits, 27 of them are about either Tom Cruise, his
bizarre cult, or John Travolta though Jimmy Swaggart continues to be
pretty popular.
What's interesting is that coverage of Hubbard's "R2-45" policy
in "Scientology Crime Syndicate: Leader Orders `R2-45' Murders" at
http://www.skeptictank.org/r2-45.htm made the top 30 that month
where it never has before.
July so far looks much like June but for once "Vanishing Point"
has dropped to the #2 slot.
At #1 is "Are You full of Dead Space-Aliens?" written by David Rice
at http://www.skeptictank.org/hs/dsacscul.htm with some 1300 hits
as of the 12'th day of July.
Out of the top 30 listing there's 22 that cover the Scientology
crooks including the very good "Rehabilitation Project Force" at
http://www.skeptictank.org/hs/brainwas.htm
Also curious for July is more activity in the Focus on the Family
hate cult so I assume there's been some news somewhere about the
hate cult this month.
