And when you think about it, what better place than FOX News?

As a conservative, I enjoy the "balanced" news FOX brings, both liberal and
conservative views being represented. Most television networks have been
heavily balanced in favor of the liberal view. The media has thought it
their job to protect Americans from Republican power. But Democratic
government can be just as intimidating, just as manipulative. So why isn't
the media less accomodating towards those like the Clintons?
Delay didn't "incriminate" himself in the broadcast I saw on FOX. Brit Hume
was quite adept at understanding the legal implications. Nothing Delay did
was illegal. Some might argue that his money scheme circumvented the spirit
of the law. But since it was legal, he would put himself at a disadvantage
if he didn't afford himself the opportunities that were being presented. All
parties had access to the same "schemes."

The Bush 'balanced' budget: 1.6 trillion and worsening

Clinton was weak in foreign policy. It just encouraged guys like Bin Laden.
It's Bin Laden that's hurt the US economy, and that was his stated
intention. But in the Bush response our foreign policy has been
strengthened. Regardless of the mistakes, the world may not like us, but
they know where we stand. The terrorists are more mouth than act. The
Democrats are playing politics with Bush's foreign policy. The greatest
danger to America is America itself. If we continue to attack our leaders,
if we continue to play the "blame game," blaming administrations for
hurricanes, etc., we'll never get out of the woods. If we continue to live
in hatred, and sin without shame, God will target us--not just Bin Laden!

The mind boggles. These people airbrushed Bush to make him seem as
tall as Kerry in the debate, Randy. This is Pravda-level propaganda.

Most television networks have been

No, they've been slanted towards the conservative view. For example,
look at the way they ignored the Blair memos -- the smoking gun that
showed us how the Bush Administration slanted intelligence and lied
about Iraq.

A. It's somewhere between laughable and sickening to hear a Republican
talk about the "blame game" in light of the mostly baseless
accusations the GOP hurled at Clinton, not to mention Bush/Rove's
history of smear tactics.
B. It's doubly laughable and sickening to hear etc. given that the
Republicans have showed no reticence whatsoever in seeking, per Rove's
strategy, to pin all the blame on local officials.
C. Bush has made a mess of foreign policy and left us significantly
weaker than we were. The rest of the world no longer trusts us thanks
to his lies about WMD's and his bullying arrogance. Bush made a mess
of the war in Iraq. The volunteer army and the National Guard are on
the verge of meltdown. Iraq has turned into a terrorist production
facility. Bin Laden and his associates are running around in the
border regions. Iran is working towards nuclear weapons and after all
the tough talk we finally caved to North Korea. Not to mention that
every tin-plated dictator and terrorist knows the army is tied down
and how it can be defeated.
D. Clinton didn't have support for stronger action against Bin Laden.
Perhaps he should have pushed harder. But the Bush Administration did
a good deal less about Bin Laden than Clinton had, and a good deal
less than the outgoing Clinton Administration and experts like Richard
Clarke recommended:
'Clarke also tells CBS News Correspondent Lesley Stahl that White
House officials were tepid in their response when he urged them months
before Sept. 11 to meet to discuss what he saw as a severe threat from
al Qaeda.
' "Frankly," he said, "I find it outrageous that the president is
running for re-election on the grounds that he's done such great
things about terrorism. He ignored it. He ignored terrorism for
months, when maybe we could have done something to stop 9/11. Maybe.
We'll never know".'
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/03/19/60minutes/main607356.shtml
And so forth. It becomes tedious to repeat these points again and
again, and depressing because there are so many more and you
conservatives have been so damned spun. Perhaps you should consider
reading a good newspaper rather than listening to the Al Jazeera-level
propaganda on Fox News. This is the most manifestly incompetent
administration since Herbert Hoover's.

Dude, the altered picture was on Fox's web site, and was widely
circulated on the Internet -- alongside the original.

Most television networks have been
heavily balanced in favor of the liberal view.

"Totally without substance?" You have got to be kidding.

The media has thought it
their job to protect Americans from Republican power. But Democratic
government can be just as intimidating, just as manipulative. So why

isn't

the media less accomodating towards those like the Clintons?

Delay didn't "incriminate" himself in the broadcast I saw on FOX. Brit

Hume

was quite adept at understanding the legal implications. Nothing Delay

did

was illegal. Some might argue that his money scheme circumvented the

spirit

of the law. But since it was legal, he would put himself at a

disadvantage

if he didn't afford himself the opportunities that were being presented.

All

parties had access to the same "schemes."

"Spirit" of the law? Since when can you get around a campaign
contribution law by laundering money?

Delay isn't charged with laundrying.

Delay's group gathered contributions from corporate contributors and
sent it to the RNC, which sent it on to Republican candidates in
Texas. It is illegal in Texas to channel money from corporate
contributors to candidates. Ergo, DeLay, if he had knowledge of the
activities (and the DA seems to have found evidence that he did,
perhaps someone who copped a plea, because only a few weeks ago he
said he didn't think DeLay would be indicted) broke the law. The money
laundering scheme is significant only insofar as someone caught them
doing it.

Clinton was weak in foreign policy. It just encouraged guys like Bin

Laden.

If we continue to attack our

leaders,

if we continue to play the "blame game," blaming administrations for
hurricanes, etc., we'll never get out of the woods. If we continue to

live

in hatred, and sin without shame, God will target us--not just Bin Laden!

A. It's somewhere between laughable and sickening to hear a Republican
talk about the "blame game" in light of the mostly baseless
accusations the GOP hurled at Clinton, not to mention Bush/Rove's
history of smear tactics.

Yeah, lying to a grand jury, Proven! Stained dress, LOL. Jennifer, Paula,
Kathleen, Juanita, and MONIKA! All baseless, I'm sure! LOL

There is nothing illegal about screwing. You Republicans should try it
sometime. In a bedroom, I mean: you're used to screwing your
opponents.

(Rest of anti-American leftist propaganda deleted in deference to truth,
decency, and patriotism)

ITYMTS "I was unable to respond and so chose the usual Republican
tactic, smears."
But hey, guess what, dude -- it ain't working anymore, because you've
fucked up just about everything it's possible to ***** up.
Even the undecideds and conservative rank-and-file are catching on to
the fact that they've been lied to and let down by an administration
that is unprincipled, unimaginative, incompetent, extremist, beset by
cronyism, and corrupt.
Rove and DeLay can spin and smear all they want, but they can't put

Unfortunately, smears aren't gonna bring back the dead in your

India. They aren't gonna capture Bin Laden, or erase Tom DeLay's legal

You see, you can spin and you can smear and you can lie all you want,
and yeah, that may get you elected. But if the officials you elect are
incompetent and visionless and corrupt -- if they appoint unqualified

Which is pretty much what's happening, ain't it.

Cupertino, California, is a city in "Silicon Valley" south of San Francisco.
Cupertino has one of the best school systems in the country, based on a
number of different measuring sticks. So it was a surprise to the community
when Stephen Williams, a fifth-grade teacher at Stevens Creek Elementary in
Cupertino, brought a federal civil-rights claim against his school principal
and the Cupertino Union School District, asserting that he had been
discriminated against because he is a Christian. Williams said that he had
been stopped from distributing historical documents to his students because
the documents mentioned God.
Some background: Williams was represented by the Alliance Defense Fund, a
nationwide organization of "Christian" attorneys engaged in "battleground"
culture issues, such as abortion and same-sex marriage. The Drudge Report
web site ran a headline that said "DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE BANNED AT
CALIFORNIA SCHOOL." Newt Gingrich (you remember Newt, who had to resign
from his post as Speaker of the House), on the talk-show circuit for a book
tour, made the Cupertino case part of his routine.
The Declaration of Independence was not banned at Stevens Creek Elementary.
A copy of the Declaration hangs in the school's library, and it is included
in the fifth-grade textbook--the textbook Stephen Williams taught from. The
school principal named in the lawsuit, Patricia Vidmar, is a Christian who
had helped Stephen Williams get a plan for a "Good News Club" through the
district school board, and who also supported a mothers' prayer group.
What Mrs. Vidmar had done was to stop Mr. Williams from handing out a
three-paragraph excerpt from the Declaration, carefully chosen to deliver a
one-sided message. She was doing no more than practicing the same oversight
as every school principal in the country. No teacher in the country is
completely free to choose all his own teaching materials.
Mr. Williams was a "born-again" Christian whose proselytizing had already
drawn some parent complaints. Some of the other teachers also complained.
One of them said, "I find it offensive that he feels he needs to proselytize
to the rest of the teachers. For one thing, there are some who are Jewish.
And for those of us who are Christian, excuse me, but I belong to my own
church. I am not interested in having you tell me that this is what you
should do. I know what I'm supposed to do in a public school."
The California "Guidelines for Teaching About Religion," which the principal
was obligated to follow, says that a teacher can instruct about religion but
can emphasize no particular religion.
Fox News either failed to check the facts--shame on them--or they gave the
story the coverage they gave it despite knowing the details--double shame on
them. Sean Hannity moved "Hannity & Colmes" to Cupertino for a special
hour-long feature called "Take Back America." Broadcasting live from the
performing-arts theater at the local college, Hannity took to the stage and
read the first two paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence, and asked
"As a nation, when these words of Thomas Jefferson fall on deaf ears, where
are we? Or perhaps they fall on no ears at all. Because that is what some
people say has happened right here in Cupertino."
This despite the fact(!) that Mr. Williams was allowed to (and presumably
did) teach the Declaration of Independence--including the first two
paragraphs.
Where was the other side of the story? You didn't get it on Fox News.

read the first two paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence, and

asked

"As a nation, when these words of Thomas Jefferson fall on deaf ears,

where

are we? Or perhaps they fall on no ears at all. Because that is what

some

people say has happened right here in Cupertino."

This despite the fact(!) that Mr. Williams was allowed to (and presumably
did) teach the Declaration of Independence--including the first two
paragraphs.

Where was the other side of the story? You didn't get it on Fox News.
Where are the conservative wolves who should be nipping at the heels of

the

"Fair and Unbiased" network? Did the people who criticize the ACLU

bitterly

complain about the ADF?

I don't believe the conservative media.

But you believe what has been proven to be forged documents. Makes on
wonder about you, doesn't it?

Apparently your definition of "balanced" is quite a bit different than
mine, perhaps you count Bill O'Reilly as a flaming liberal.
Next thing you know, you'll be calling them "fair", too.

But in the Bush response our foreign policy has been strengthened.

Right, if by "strengthened" you mean destroying relationships with
almost every other nation on the planet.
Then again, now that the leading foreign diplomat/soccer mom Karen

It's funny how a catch phrase like that resonates with certain people,
who prefer empty slogans to actual debate.

Your inability to distinguish between news and opinion columns is
noted. Opinion columns express, well, opinions. News should be
governed by facts, not opinions. FOX manages to separate these two
quite well. Most other media outlets, fail.

Next thing you know, you'll be calling them "fair", too.

Yes.

Almost every nation on the planet, during the 30s, believed that
appeasement is good policy. It wasn't.

From Bill O'Reilly's own web site:
"For some thirty years Bill has been a working journalist..."
""The O'Reilly Factor," seen weeknights on the Fox News Channel,
continues to dominate the television news ratings,..."

Almost every nation on the planet, during the 30s, believed that
appeasement is good policy. It wasn't.

And neither was invading other countries...
