Here you go.
Why did Jesus need to be circumcised? After all:
He was the Son of God, not just one of God's people.
He was the Word of God, not just a party to the covenant.
He was circumcised:
In order to fulfill the old covenant, the law, on our behalf.
In order to show us how to live as one of the people of God.
His circumcision was, thus, the first step on the very same path which would
lead him to:
The Jordan, for baptism at the hands of His servant, St. John.
The Cross, where He gave His life for us all.

By "religious" I guess you mean modern Western religions.

What do you mean by "stole" here? Did Virgil "steal" the notion of an

are you distinguishing cultural stealing from the rest of cultural
usage?

Are you suggesting that circumcision originally did not have a

I can't keep this straight. I thought Jesus had John the Baptist
baptize him when he was an adult. I thought the Jews had to consecrate
their first-born males to the Lord, but that wasn't the same as
baptism.
And weren't the parents of Jesus out of their hometown for the census
when Jesus was born? Wasn't the temple in Jerusalem anyway? Did they
take a newborn baby from Bethlehem to Jerusalem to get "baptized." Who
were Jesus's godparents, anyway.
And then did they hurry back to Bethlehem in time for the three Kings,
Caspar, Balthazar, and Melchiore, to show up with gold, frankincense
and myrrh [I know I must have misspelled it]. And how did this baby
feel about getting such weird presents on his birthday? Wouldn't he
have preferred something useful?
And besides, wasn't December 25 just appropriated by Christians
centuries after Jesus's birth to displace pagan celebrations? If so,
does calculating anything as eight days after Jesus's birth on December
25 make any sense at all?

Not bad for a supposed atheist.
Jesus was born a Jew, and on the 8th day, was circumcised. With the beginnings
of Christianity in the death and resurrection of Christ, baptism replaced
circumcision for the Christian.
Jesus was baptized in the Jordan by John the Baptist in a baptism of repentance.
John's baptism bound its subjects to repentance, and not to the faith of Christ.
It was not administered in the name of the Trinity. However, Jesus was sinless
and had no need for such baptism.
Why did Jesus need to be circumcised? After all:
He was the Son of God, not just one of God's people.

"...the traditional day set aside by the Jews for at least 6000 years now"?
Gee, that would come as an enormous surprise to just about
every Jew I know.
Helpful hint #1: Jesus was not baptized until about thirty
years after his birth.
Helpful hint #2: baptism, in my church at least, did not
involve a knife.
Helpful hint #3: what Jewish tradition did Jesus actually
undergo on this day? (further hint: begins with `c', ends
in `n', rhymes with `circumcision')

Let me guess. This response suggests that you don't understand his comment
before he was crucified (before many fall asleep) and reference to his 2nd

You must have a different version than I did. According to your
understanding, when was the Flood? And how long ago was Abraham born?
