transfiguration story |
The gospels record that James, John, Peter and Jesus went to a mountain and
thereafter, how Jesus was transfigured along with Moses and Elijah. The
bible does not explain how James, John and Peter would have been able to
recognize Moses and Elijah who lived about 1350 BC and 850 BC respectively.
What I don't understand is why Jesus instructed them not to mention this
event to anyone. After all, this story is no more implausible than all the
others.

It's fiction. Don't try to comprehend the garbled, piecemeal
accounts of Jesus of Nazareth. They don't make sense and they
don't matter. It's only make-believe.

Seems more an account of am epileptic fit of sorts. One of the painters
in the MA/Renn. painted it as such. Do a MedLine search and you will get
a couple of papers discussing this.

Probably the story wasn't added to the legend of Jesus until decades
later, and whoever made it up had to invent some reason why none of the
Apostles mentioned any transfiguration before then.

Or alternatively, one of the apostles was terribly naughty and went and told
someone. No heaven for him then.
