Don't know. I'm aware if a system gets a trojan another person can
control your computer. I don't know about any stock 'back doors,' but
if one of those guys wanted to get into your computer it probably
wouldn't take too long. [shrug]

What's the washing care symbol for "Not to be washed by Protestants"?
I thought it was a white triangle shape with a horizontal slot cut in it and
a big (burning?) cross through it.
I couldn't see it on the label.
They also forgot to put a "Not to be washed by Muslims, Jews, etc., etc."
label on it.
I wonder what the "Not to be washed by atheists" symbol looks like?

There's a novelty, a fundie talking about proof without referring to the
bible / scripture / word of god. The proof required would I presume be
provided by science / scientists? There we have a catch 22 don't we. If
science proves it to be a fake, it won't matter, cos you gotta have faith
brother. However, I'm sure the fundies would be able to roll some scientist
out who will "prove" it to be true, but if the church thinks its a fake, why
doesn't duke believe this "teaching" from his beloved religious authority?

Science hasn't proved it to be a "fake", or anything else. The shroud is known
to not be a photo, or painting, or negative or any other application by any
other means except for an extremely bright flash of light - God's hands in
action.

That's pure irony - Duckshit claiming he's not a fundie and then in
the same message stream posts one of his extremely rare references -
and it's to a fundie young-Earth creationist site! LoL! And on top
of that, it's a pack of lies. This is, of course, entirely
predictable, since that's what Puke spews out most every message he
posts.
Here's a Christian perspective on radiometeric dating which proves
Duckshit to be a liar:
http://www.asa3.org/ASA/resources/Wiens.html#page
The auithor of the above, Dr. Roger C. Wiens has a PhD in Physics,
with a minor in Geology. His PhD thesis was on isotope ratios in
meteorites, including surface exposure dating. He's rather more
qualified than the four clowns who wrote the AiG article.
Here's the real goods on C-14 radiometric dating:
http://www.c14dating.com/
And, of course, talkorigins has a host of material highlighting the
creationist lies about radiometrics:

That's exactly right - they confirm how much in error *you* are and
how pathetic and ignorant you truly have to be to insist that Earth is

adamant that Earth is only some 10K years old! LoL!
But as far as *real* science goes, when you have multiple measures,
from a diversity of sources which confirm each other, then you know
you're on the right track.
When several independent labs come up with the the *same* medieval age
for the Turin shroud - an age which completely falls in line with the
shroud's history, in that it first appeared in the Middle Ages - you
know you're on the right track.
When the shroud image is readily reproduced by fakery, and the image
itself shows distinct signs of fakery, you know it's a fake.
It's as hypocritical as it is pathetic that C-14 dating for the Dead
Sea scrolls is accepted without question, but when that same method is
used for the Turin shroud - suddenly, it's completely unreliable!
LoL!

You're truly pathetic, Puke. You have the very least to offer in
discourse in a.a. You're one of the most prone to lying. You offer
nothing but vacuous one-line responses. You cannot support a single
claim you make. You run as soon as you're hit with the hard
questions. And you're a empty-headed hypocrite as this message has
revealed - once again.
Keep trying, you pathetic weasel.

Science hasn't proved it to be a "fake", or anything else. The shroud
is
known
to not be a photo, or painting, or negative or any other application by
any
other means except for an extremely bright flash of light - God's hands
in
action.
Idiot.
Are you so easily fooled that you cannot think of any other explanation?
I can think of at least one more, and haven't even given it much thought
yet.
I'm repeating what the article said.
As far as carbon dating is considered, that's totally unreliable.

quality! god did it with a bright flash of light with his hands!! for what
purpose exactly? just so a few hundred years later we could see what jebus
looked like?? I presume that the shroud was wrapped around the dead body, so
where did this flash of light come from? It could only come from inside the
body & I doubt that this "flash of light" would be strong enough to
penetrate the skin without setting fire to the body or shroud & who
witnessed this bright flash of light?
Regarding radiocarbon dating, it appears to be a fairly reliable technique
upto around 40,000-50,000 years,

Why would an athesist turn to a bible type website for a religious bias on
science? I quote from your cited website...
"This evidence is consistent with the fossil-bearing rock layers being
formed in the year-long global catastrophe of the biblical Flood, as flood
geologists since Nicholas Steno (1631-1687) have recognized. Even
Precambrian ('older than 545 Ma') graphite, which is not of organic origin,
contains 14C above background levels.25 This is consistent with Earth itself
being only thousands of years old, as a straightforward reading of the Bible
would suggest."
The Earth only a few thousand years old? Theists get themselves into all
sorts of trouble when they try & use science for their own ends. If you
believe the generally accepted view that the Earth was created during the
formation of the Sun & Solar system, we would appear to be in a serious
crisis then. The Sun is roughly thought to be half way through its life &
given that theists have aged the Earth to a few thousand years, we can
expect the Sun to end in a few thousand years & not in a few billion as
previouslt thought? So what happened to the dinosaurs then? If they didn't
become extinct 65Ma wouldn't noah have taken them on the ark or were they
just too big? If the biblical flood lasted for a year, imagine how much food
would be required to feed every single animal & how big would this ark be?
More than a few cubits I'm sure. Do you not think the advances in all
sciences have increased significantly since Steno's death in 1687? This
sounds like typical fundie cherry picking the bits of science they like &
ignoring the bits they don't.

Poor Earl, he is so seldom right that it is safe to assume anything he says
is wrong.
There have been any number of photo's, paintings and negatives made from
material available circa 2000 years ago. There is also the testamony of RCC
bishops who saw it when it was fresh and new that said at teh time it was
faked. Since a goodly portion of church income at the time came from selling
such things, it was probably a bad fake.
"Arguments and evidence cited against a miraculous origin of the shroud
images include a letter from a medieval bishop to the Avignon pope. His
opinion was that the shroud image was cleverly painted to gain money from
pilgrims. "
And of course if it was real, it means the description of the burial of
Christ was wrong. That description matches historical recods of burial
practice.
