TV Elites Bash Priests says Catholic League
NEW YORK, -- Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented today on the
latest incidents of priest bashing by elites on television:
"The elites are in full gear this fall bashing Catholic priests, especially
on TV. For example, consider this totally gratuitous cheap shot made during
the October 10 episode of the CBS show, 'Two and a Half Men.' Here was the
question: 'Do Catholic priests make good babysitters?' Here was the
sarcastic reply, 'Is the pope Catholic?'
"The line could have been, 'Do gay priests make good babysitters?' But it
wasn't. That's because the bigots who wrote this show don't want to offend
homosexuals, even though everyone knows-but most refuse to admit it-that it
is gay priests who account for about 80 percent of the cases of sexual abuse
in the Catholic Church.
"And if you want to know who's the latest talking head living in denial
about this matter, consider Joy Behar of the ABC show, 'The View.' On the
October 13 episode, Behar showed us her brilliance with the following
comment: 'This is precisely why I object to when the Church says that they
are not gonna have gay priests in the Church. As if gay equals pedophilia.
It does not. If it did then the gay priests would be having sex with each
other if they were just gay. They're not just gay. They're sick. They're
pedophiles.'
"Now no one ever said that gay equals pedophilia, though there are data
which show that gays are disproportionately represented in cases of
pedophilia. In any event, it's nice to know that in the same episode of 'The
View,' another savant, Meredith Vieira, managed to indict most Americans
when she remarked, 'I think organized religion is a dangerous thing.' Kind
of the way most of us feel about organized atheism-it is so much easier to
tolerate when it's unorganized.
"Of the three major networks, ABC, CBS and NBC, the first two have the worst
record of bashing Catholics. Thus does the pattern continue."

The answer to which of course is "yes" - in other words, the statement
(inference) is/was: Catholic priests DO make good babysitters.
This is "bashing"?

More likely they didn't want to offend Catholics - which is why they
complimented Catholic priests by saying OF COURSE they make good

And you'd be wrong. In America, at least, it is still quite acceptable
to hate Muslims, atheists, and the French. And that's just on TV. In
real life, depending on where you go, it's socially acceptable to hate:
Catholics, Jews, Baptists, Muslims, Mormons, JWs, atheists, the French,
blacks, gays, Asians, Indians, and Mexicans. Those are just off the top
of my head.
Stop feeling so abused. So society hasn't decided to sweep its hatred
of Catholics under the rug. Big fucking deal.

Homophobia is a multi billion dollar industry in the United
States.
Still, the "Catholic League" has no right to complain. They are
themselves one of the worst enemies of the Catholic church
in America.

Go find a Catholic who was alive during JFK's 1960
Presidential bid. Ask them what the Republicans and
the Catholic bashers were saying back then.
Hint: "Kennedy would be an agent of the Pope, taking
his orders directly from the Vatican."
Well, guess what the Catholic League wants and HAS
fought for?
Another hint: Remember all those Republican-sparked
calls during the 2004 election, when they wanted the
Pope to excommunicate any Catholic politician who dared
to represent the people instead of the views of the Vatican?
In other words, yeah, the so-called "Catholic League"
is, has been & will continue to fight to turn the smears
of anti-Catholic bashers into honest criticisms.
This so-called "Catholic League" is the best friend any
anti-Catholic bigot could ever hope for!

And I've always maintained that William Donoghue is only an older
and more bitter version of J Young--another man child whose whole existence
is a raging resentment of being removed from the rosary and scapular draped
milk bar of his Catholic mommy.
