Are the Uberchristians A.K.A. Chicken Hawks responsible for all of the
wars and bigotry over the last 2,000 years?
I blame them totally for my involvement in Vietnam and the current
idiocy in Iraq.

As well you should. I'm sure that when you took their daughter from them
they might have had some initial trepidation that you were not suitable or
of sufficient stature to keep her in the manner in which she was accustomed.
But surely once they determined that she had made up her mind and decided to
stay with the wretch, they grudgingly accepted you as a "son". Perhaps some
of their doubts were because they were fully aware of the "hat incident"
(the retelling of which shows an underlying resentment of authority).
You might wish to consider this:
In my former life, I had the opportunity to attend a training session given
by a contract head doctor for the Houston Police Department. The training
session revolved around the everyday stresses that law enforcement officers
deal with. In this session it was brought out that there is a large
proportion of law enforcement who have multiple marriages (ie lots of
divorce). One of the attendees posed a question - he said Dr.........(I
can't remember the head dr's name) - "I've been divorced three times. In
each of my marriages it started off great -we were so in love, but as the
marriages progressed every one of them turned into opponents, we argued all
the time, it got so bad that we finally stopped talking to each other and
then divorced. Each divorce left me with absolutely nothing - they got
everything"
The good doctor responded " don't blame it on the job. Apparently you have
the unique ability to take a beautiful women and turn her into a shrew."
But I do strongly disagree with that subset of religious people.

Adventists, Episcopalians and the like?

As well you should. I'm sure that when you took their daughter from them
they might have had some initial trepidation that you were not suitable or
of sufficient stature to keep her in the manner in which she was accustomed.
Yes, I married way above my station, but she enjoyed my flagrant
disregard for social convention.
In her family,it did not matter if you were a doctor or lawyer, what
mattered to them is where were you ranked in the profession.
One of them, a pathologist, couldn't take the peer reviews at family
get together's and withdrew from her profession and is living as a
hermit in Manhattan. Her dad was supposedly a big wheel in the world
monetary Fund, so money was not a problem.
But the thing I and my wife hated about the religious right, is their
one size fits all mentalities.
My in laws were not Ozzy and Harriet. They were very abusive drunks
and child abusers. With my wife's low self esteem and obnoxious
personality ( which I did not meet until our wedding night ) I was the
only person she could get to marry her. In spite of her and my mental
problems we did love and care for each other. I recently after three
years of not seeing and talking to her, I saw her and gave her a
friendly hug. She had difficulty talking afterwards so, I assume the
***** still loves me.
But surely once they determined that she had made up her mind and decided to
stay with the wretch, they grudgingly accepted you as a "son".
I have a Polish surname, I assure you they never accepted me as
"son", neither her dad or I were stupid enough to go deer hunting
together.
Perhaps some
of their doubts were because they were fully aware of the "hat incident"
(the retelling of which shows an underlying resentment of authority).
I had no options in the hat incident. If one were available I would
have acquired it. I did not like being yelled at.
My resentment for authority is not at all underlying. The officers and
senior NCO's loved me. I would actually duke it out with my platoon
sergeant, who truly enjoyed fighting with me.
I was the only enlisted man who was given a going away party by the
camp commander. He said that he would get up at 5:30 in the morning
and walk over to the mess hall. He said that Eris would be standing
there with 750 rounds of ammo, 8 hand grenades, two claymores, a
radio, and an M16, he would look at me and he would wonder for the
rest of the day what I had done wrong.
He knew what he had done wrong.
You might wish to consider this:

The good doctor responded " don't blame it on the job. Apparently you have
the unique ability to take a beautiful women and turn her into a shrew."
Again, one size fits all. The good Doctor had no personal knowledge of
the mans situation. I think the reason unmarried women are nicer than
older married women, is that women do not handle the introduction of
androgen and testosterone into the blood, very well.
Also even women hate women.
But I do strongly disagree with that subset of religious people.
Be they Jew, Christian, or Muslim.
By "subset" are you speaking of the various denominations like 7th Day
Adventists, Episcopalians and the like?
No, I like the Jesuits, but don't like the Dominicans. It is not the
denominations I disapprove of, it is the personalities of some of
their adherents.
Nigel Brooks
p.s. Do the atheists really give a ***** about this conversation anyway?
Atheist are very curious about everything, which is essentially why we
became atheist in the first place. I know realize how contentious this
is in this NG and will keep the cross posting to a minimum.

A bigot is a bigot too. You're a hater Eris. Don't you know you can
substitute any word for "Christian" and it still comes up BIGOTRY? A
dictionary couldn't have defined bigotry any better than your statements.

Substitute black, Hispanic, woman, Jew, or any other word for
