Yes, sorry, another piece of shameless self-promotion.
If you are in the UK and haven't signed it yet, please consider doing

Richard Dawkins has very kindly signed up and has urged everyone to do
the same
(http://richarddawkins.net/articleComments,313,E-Petition-Abolish-Faith-Schools,Petitionspmgovuk,page1#comments).
It is also being publicised by the British Humanist Association and
various other UK atheist and humanist groups. The response from the
scientific community has been great but I want to reach the general
public. All the polls I've seen suggest that support for the abolition
of faith schools is overwhelming but reaching people is difficult.
I'll be writing to as many people as I can, but if you are in the UK
and have the means to reach a wider audience (even if it's just your
friends or colleagues), it'd be great if you could pass the link
around.
I'm looking for someone to help out designing a flyer that people can
download from the website and distribute locally, put up on
noticeboards, etc. My design skills are appalling. If you know anyone
who might be able to help drop me a line.

As a matter of interest, it's problematic for a non US citizen to send
a message to your President via whitehouse.gov. That said I do have a
great aunt late of Texas, but now of Florida, which I suppose tells
you everything you need to know....

If we were very rational, we wouldn't have the faith schools in the
first place. I think our problem comes from an assumption that
religions have no power over here, and that leads to complacency. Now
we have a massive Government expansion plan for faith schools, with
hundreds of them in the pipeline. Anyone with enough cash can open a
school and teach garbage with millions in public funding.
At least you're supposed to have a separation of church and state
there, even if it doesn't always happen that way!
