Look at the article below, a few days ago I posted about how prisoners
should be our army, well it looks like they already are.

The Gangster Disciples, Latin Kings and Vice Lords were born decades
ago in Chicago's most violent neighborhoods. Now, their gang graffiti
is showing up 6,400 miles away in one of the world's most dangerous
neighborhoods -- Iraq.
Armored vehicles, concrete barricades and bathroom walls all have
served as canvasses for their spray-painted gang art. At Camp Cedar II,
about 185 miles southeast of Baghdad, a guard shack was recently
defaced with "GDN" for Gangster Disciple Nation, along with the gang's
six-pointed star and the word "Chitown," a soldier who photographed it
said.
The graffiti, captured on film by an Army Reservist and provided to the
Chicago Sun-Times, highlights increasing gang activity in the Army in
the United States and overseas, some experts say.
Military and civilian police investigators familiar with three major
Army bases in the United States -- Fort Lewis, Fort Hood and Fort Bragg
-- said they have been focusing recently on soldiers with gang
affiliations. These bases ship out many of the soldiers fighting in
Iraq.

I've been serving in the Army for four years now and im yet to see any
types of gang activity, sure ive heard of it happening but im yet to
see anything myself. A good majority of service members are good
people who joined for any number of reasons, We are not all gang
members who joined to be trained to kill better.
I know we are in a time where the millitary is not looked upon too
highly, lets face it our commander in chief if a fuckin' moron, the
secretary of defense is a war happy mad man and the vice president is
nowhere to be found unless hes shooting someone in the face and getting
away with it. But, none the less, we the soldiers, sailors and marines
who are serving are, for the most part, normal everyday people just
like you.

When I was in the military over 30 years ago, most volunteers were what
I would describe as societies losers and I would have included myself
in that category at that time. They were often not the societies
brightest, were people running away from a troubled home life, trouble
with the law, many couldn't find a job, and some joined to get the GI
bill. Especially the marine corp would attract rough characters. Why
would someone in their right mind volunteer to go to war in Iraq. I
really didn't see many join for patriotic reasons like WWII, although
there maybe a few, I don't think much has changed.

some 30% or so of our forces are reserve or guard units. These are not
gang members, but working members of society who signed up to earn some
extra cash on weekends. They include grandmothers. No gang members

a lie.

No, I don't know that. It may be true, but it's as likely to be false.
Gangs form in cities where there are young men with time but no
structure. I don't expect that is the rule in the United States Army.
