Object: US Bridge Failure
Lack of investment into basic infrastructure is being blamed at this
admittedly early stage.
I wonder where all the money went?
Wanna buy a bridge from Bush or Brown? Even in Iraq or Afghanistan I'd think
very, very hard...
Seems there's 70,000 bridges just like the one that collapsed across the US.
I wouldn't mind betting Bush spent the money through his arms, oil interests
before the mundane stuff of basic inspection / maintenance of the things his
own people use every day without thinking.
Perhaps we should be asking where the money we're spending ourselves in Iraq
and Afghanistan could be better used at home?
How many hip replacements would a cruise missile buy? And how many bridges
could be inspected, maintained or fixed if there was no Iraqi "Green Zone"
to fund?

On the plus side, some Bush cronie or another will get the $$$ to build
a replacement bridge. Planned obsolescence. What a concept!

If not a bridge, some other roadway. They've been tearing up a
portion of I-495 in NY for weeks now, when there was nothing wrong
with that stretch - while ignoring bone-jarring potholes in other
stretches. (And the new paving is cheaper material and more bumpy
than the old - precast vs cheap blacktop.) But the contractor has to
be kept in the black. There's been repaving going on for about 15
years now - almost constantly. Probably since someone got his hand in
someone else's pocket.

I think it's just fascinating how a bridge failure that caused several
deaths can be so newsworthy....while the scores of other Americans
who died in car crashes that same day go unreported on national news.

And the half million deaths that WE caused in Iraq don't cause a mass
uprising.

We did cause a half million. Islamic terrorists did that.

I guess Puke thinks that Islamic terrorism is the reason we invaded
Iraq. Or he thinks WE'RE not shooting real bullets.

Truly disgusting. The infrastructure in the United States is falling
apart, and our tax money is being spent on a useless war that cannot
be won.

Nope, wrong. Presdient Eisenhower built the infrastructure, and nobody has
provided adequate funds since. And that includes your buddies Kennedy, Johnson,
Carter, and Clinton.
Now if we were to take the real culprit out of the equation, our failed social
engineering culture, we could pay for the bridges.
