Utah State Lawmaker Defends Polygamy
By Associated Press
January 22, 2005, 3:40 PM EST
SALT LAKE CITY --
A Republican state lawmaker countered a Senate colleague's dispersal
of an anti-polygamy book by passing out materials to fellow
legislators defending the practice as natural and not necessarily
harmful.
State Sen. Carlene Walker said she was offended by the book, "God's
Brothel," that Democratic Senate Minority Whip Ron Allen distributed
to legislators Tuesday.

I agree with her: as long as all people involved are adults that
concent to the polygamous marriage, there ought to be no laws
against it. However, "God's Brothel" points out that the polygamy
as practiced in parts of the USA (mostly in Utah) involve little
girls who are raped by their "husbands," as well as involve women
who are coerced, threatened, intimidated, and extorted into
polygamy. *THAT* is what is objectionable.

Agree completely. It seems that a lot of Christian parents think nothing
about handing their children over to Christian perverts proclaiming they're
now married. Vernon Howed (Branch Davidians) certainly did it with the
_legal_ blessing of the State of Texas.

The Branch Davidians were investigated on charges of child abuse
and were found to not be guilty of the charge. Then the government
killed them, and suddenly there was piles of eidence of child
abuse. Why did the original investigation fail?

http://foia.fbi.gov contains the documents, I noticed. Every check to
see if the children were being abused, kidnapped, or mistreated in any
way determined that there was no cause to slaughter them to save them.

Of course. If Bush sends more men to their death for his WMD lie in
Iraq, then there will be a surplus of women and hence a need for
Polygamy!
