Vatican: condoms don't stop Aids |
Abstinence is still the best policy, if you are in one of the risk
catagories. Can't catch anything if you aren't doing anything. It's by
far the most successful method of birth control; which is not such a
bad idea in Africa and parts of Asia. Healthier people, less people,
more food and less diseases to go around. That's a sound policy that
works and once again, the pontiff promotes life.

Vatican: condoms don't stop Aids
The Catholic Church is telling people in countries stricken by Aids not
to use condoms because they have tiny holes in them through which HIV
can pass - potentially exposing thousands of people to risk.
The church is making the claims across four continents despite a
widespread scientific consensus that condoms are impermeable to HIV.
A senior Vatican spokesman backs the claims about permeable condoms,
despite assurances by the World Health Organisation that they are
untrue.

I don't suppose it occurs to them that abstinence has a much higher
failure rate than any other method of AIDS prevention, for the simple
reason that people forget to use it!
A person might fail in abstinence now and then. But once he puts on the
rubber, he has no intention of ever stopping.
But this is a ridiculous argument. Any doctor will tell you the same thing.
Condoms do not make illicit sex 100% safe.
The only way to be 100% safe from choking to death is to adhere to
a strictly all-liquid diet.
The only way to be 100% certain you will not be killed in a traffic
accident is to never, ever, go near a roadway.
The only absolute defense against being robbed is to have nothing of value.
The only 100 % certain protection against sexually-transmitted AIDS is never
to have sex outside of marriage -- or within marriage, either.
But only sexually transmitted AIDS. Ask Kimberly Bergalis' family.
But in places where it is endemic and there is little health care like
sub-Saharan Africa, care-givers are catching it from open sores etc.

Yeppers -- in fact that's why I carefully put that 'sexually-transmitted'
in there. To be 100% safe, you'd actually have to avoid being born

In the eyes of the Roman church, illicit sex is usually anything that
could reduce the rate of baptism of cute, boy babies.

BAM
But then again, if a person is having illicit sex, the issue isn't so
much the sex but WHY they are - you'll find that those who feel the
need to have illicit sex seem to have some deep seated need that they
think they can fill by having sex with different people; the fact
remains, however, they'll remain hollo until they get to the root cause
of it.

Superficially it seems like sexual morality is in chaos, with widely varying
views about what does and does not consitute acceptable behaviour.
Actually if you dig down you'll see that there is a fair amount of
consensus. Episcopalians in favour of gay bishops talk a lot about
"committed homosexual relationships" but no one else takes this seriously.
People talk about divorce being better for the kids and about loving step
families, but it is rare for a stepfather to put a step child through
college (in the US), it is rare for the stepchild not to be bitter about not
having two natural parents.
You might think that the exception is contraception. But liberal activists
threw condoms at a Catholic speaker once (I think the debate was about
abortion, can't remember). This is an implict admission that condoms degrade
the sexual act.

When my wife and I decided it was time to start a family, the first thing
we did was sit down and discuss how we would handle certain situations. A

Not directly. We raised 10 children. Nine are ours. The 10th was my wife's
sister's kid. Said sister is a REAL loser, having had 6 out of wedlock kids,
11+ abortions, etc. He died 2 years ago of a heart problem. He had an IQ of

he had a life. I put more work into him than into the other 9 combined,

experience,
or before having done a lot of research.
My wife is a psychiatrist. She has seen it all. I also worked with
handicapped children when I was in high school.
Mickey
Hold on. So your wife was a psychiatrist, and had "seen it all",
Most of it, she specialized in child issues. However, at the time we got
married, she was just starting out. Her experince can from working in
institutions while doing her under-graduate work.
and you worked with enough handicapped children to presumably "see it
all" before
Oh no. I just had a clue, not much more. Actually, I worked with handicapped
children for the extra credit, the experience was just a bonus that I didn't
know I was getting until MUCH later.
you were married and were able to discuss it.
We knew enough. We knew more as we went on, but we knew enough to know that
there are no gaurantees when you have children.
All those years of life experience, and you still had time to raise 10
children, AND you are below
55 years of age? Am I stating this accurately?
Still raising children, my youngest are 6. We also went to a lot of places
to see children with troubles. We did volunteer work, we read books. We got
ourselves as educated as you can get WITHOUT having a child. Understand, I
am not saying we knew it all, you simply cannot until you have a child with
an issue. What you can do is educate yourself as well as possible, and hope
for the best. Nothing ever REALLY prepares you for it. Could ANYTHING have
prepared you for an autistic child? Depending on the degree, autism can be a
nearly overwhelming thing to deal with in a child. You can read up, you can
make some low-level decisions, but in the end, only being there and doing it
really counts.
That being said, educating oneself at least gives you some perspective and a
starting point. I count myself lucky in that we had as many kids as we did
and did not encounter any major problems.
Mickey

The teachings of the Catholic church are well known and there is no
need
to
reiterate them here.
The moron is saying don't toss pearls at swine.
Sadly these are the parents that are raising gay children around the
country
Does any one ever wonder about why you gay kids are so messed up
uninformed and make such bad choices?
Mom and dad you really do pay for your ignorance
When my wife and I decided it was time to start a family, the first thing
we did was sit down and discuss how we would handle certain situations. A
handicapped child, a Down's Syndrome child, a gay child, etc. If one does
that up front, dealing with anything that comes along is FAR easier.
Mickey
And wouldn't it be beautiful if all of your alleged nine kids knew that any
one of them would have been aborted by you two if early indications didn't
look too promising.

Act Up protestors tossed condoms about in New York City's St Patrick's
Cathedral partly because Archbishop John Cardinal O'Connor blocked
non-hetero New Yorkers from marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade.
During the protest, O'Connor became visibly enraged.
This is an implict admission that condoms degrade
the sexual act.

Superficially it seems like sexual morality is in chaos, with
widely
varying views about what does and does not consitute acceptable
behaviour.
Actually if you dig down you'll see that there is a fair amount
of
consensus. Episcopalians in favour of gay bishops talk a lot
about
"committed homosexual relationships" but no one else takes this
seriously. People talk about divorce being better for the kids
and
about loving step families, but it is rare for a stepfather to
put
a
step child through college (in the US), it is rare for the
stepchild
not to be bitter about not having two natural parents.
You might think that the exception is contraception. But liberal
activists threw condoms at a Catholic speaker once (I think the
debate was about abortion, can't remember).
. Act Up protestors tossed condoms about in New York City's St
Patrick's Cathedral partly because Archbishop John Cardinal
O'Connor
blocked non-hetero New Yorkers from marching in the St. Patrick's
Day
parade. During the protest, O'Connor became visibly enraged.
This is an implict admission that condoms degrade
the sexual act.
. Condoms degrade, but STDs are destroyers.
Only if the sole purpose is sex and your pleasure.
Carrying enough to not send the very best can be an act of love.

LOL! I read that a couple of times and still don't know what he/she was
trying to say.
Carrying enough condoms to not let the sperm get through? In other
words, not to get someone pregnant can be an act of love. Of course,
that's only if you're nasty enough to have sex for simple pleasure, you
dirty dogs. ;-)
At my age I get more simple pleasure out of watching my grandchildren play,
but sex at my wife and I's age is for nothing else by the simple pleasure.
You didn't expect us to stop boinking just because she passed menopause, did
you? :c) Condoms really aren't an issue.
