Object: Vatican: condoms don't stop Aids
Abstinence is still the best policy, if you are in one of the risk
catagories. Can't catch anything if you aren't doing anything. It's by
far the most successful method of birth control; which is not such a
bad idea in Africa and parts of Asia. Healthier people, less people,
more food and less diseases to go around. That's a sound policy that
works and once again, the pontiff promotes life.

Vatican: condoms don't stop Aids
The Catholic Church is telling people in countries stricken by Aids not
to use condoms because they have tiny holes in them through which HIV
can pass - potentially exposing thousands of people to risk.
The church is making the claims across four continents despite a
widespread scientific consensus that condoms are impermeable to HIV.
A senior Vatican spokesman backs the claims about permeable condoms,
despite assurances by the World Health Organisation that they are
untrue.

First, the World Health Organization estimates of AIDS cases in Africa that
Horton cites do not correspond to HIV seroprevalence because HIV testing on
that continent has produced alarmingly high rates of false positive results
in a large proportion of tested populations. The WHO estimates of AIDS cases
are based instead on a list of clinical symptoms that include persistent
coughing, high fever, weight loss, and chronic diarrhea. These criteria for
AIDS diagnosis in African cohort studies overlap considerably with the
symptoms of such endemic diseases as dysentery, tuberculosis, cholera and
malaria. This is why a growing number of African scientists and researchers
have criticized the WHO premise and insist that addressing structural
poverty and unhealthy living conditions — not behavior modification
schemes — constitutes an appropriate patient-centered approach to achieve
better health care.

not transmitted by mosquitoes, but is the result of exposure

The condom makers need to donate a nickel to the RCC for every condom they
sell. that might shut them up.

In a message sent 'round the world, J Young poured fuel on the fire with
the following:

Abstinence is still the best policy, if you are in one of the risk
catagories. Can't catch anything if you aren't doing anything.

ROTFL !! Ever hear of infection through transfusion? Infants being
infected in the womb?

It's by
far the most successful method of birth control; ...

According to your mythology, virgin birth is possible. And with the
availability of artificial insemination virgin birth can be a modern day
reality, as can pregnancy for the abstinent.

... which is not such a
bad idea in Africa and parts of Asia.

A senior Vatican spokesman backs the claims about permeable condoms,
despite assurances by the World Health Organisation that they are
untrue.

And here is where your dishonesty becomes most apparent. You snipped
such gems as:
"The WHO has condemned the Vatican's views, saying: "These incorrect
statements about condoms and HIV are dangerous when we are facing a
global pandemic which has already killed more than 20 million people,
and currently affects at least 42 million."
"In Lwak, near Lake Victoria, the director of an Aids testing centre
says he cannot distribute condoms because of church opposition. Gordon
Wambi told the programme: "Some priests have even been saying that
condoms are laced with HIV/Aids."

Josef
