Vatican Considering Barring Gay-Friendly Politicians From Sacrament |
His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI is once again 100% correct in his stated
beliefs. Persons who wish to deviate from the doctrines of the church
should not enjoy the sacraments associated with the Churches teachings.
Let these politicians show the strength of their convictions.
Vatican Considering Barring Gay-Friendly Politicians From Sacrament
(Rome) Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and Spanish Prime Minister
Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero who legalized same-sex marriage in their
countries, and about a dozen American politicians who support gay
marriage - including San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom who issued
marriage licenses last year to same-sex couples - could be refused the
sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church under a proposal being
considered by the Vatican.
Catholic bishops meeting in Vatican City at the first synod led by
newly anointed Pope Benedict XVI are expected to consider refusing
communion to politicians who pass laws that violate church doctrine.

That should just about finish Ireland off as a Roman Catholic country.
Well done, Benny.

on 10 Oct 2005 in alt.atheism, dear sweet bam
(mcca5761@bellsouthblahblah.net) made the light shine upon us with
this:
And what an absurd premise - that the Church should change eternal
truths in order to salvage membership.
They've been doing just that for thousands of years. Religion
evolves faster than any animal species on earth.
The only time the Catholic Church gets any credit for being two
thousand years old, and therefore the Church Jesus founded, is when
someone tries to accuse it of doing something wrong for as long as
they can stretch it.
Who said they're doing something wrong? They're just changing the rules
to make them fit an evolving society. Don't worry, most people won't
notice that god's perfect word is far from perfect.

So much for the so-called "love the sinner hate the sin" crap the pope
was spewing a while back. It's all lies. What else is new? It's not
even gays he would bar, but people who are friends to gay. What next?
Gas chambers?

To add to this discussion, the problem is non whether the politians are
gay friendly or not. The question is *who* do the politians represent,
their electors or the pope?
If they represent their electors they must vote according to the wishes
of the electors.
If they vote according to the pope, they the pope is undermining the
democratic rights of the electors. And that is papal interference with
democracy. Heil Dominic!

You are absolutely 100% correct.
And they represent people of all different religions.
If the Pope had a shred of decency he would ask that Roman Catholics no
longer run for political office.

How do you get that idea across to the pope and his cardinals?
