There's been no lack of commentary since the Kansas State Board of
Education began debating whether to teach "intelligent design"
alongside evolution in the public schools. One of the more unusual
submissions to the board came from Bobby Henderson, a 24-year-old
graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in physics. Eliciting
no immediate response, Henderson posted his letter on the Internet in
June. It soon attracted a large audience: Henderson said last week that
the Web site has gotten more than 14.5 million hits and was currently
getting 750,000 a day. He has since received e-mails from three Kansas
education board members, which are posted -- along with scores of
others -- on Henderson's site,http://www.venganza.org(named, for
reasons that will become clear below, after a Spanish pirate ship).

I think it's alarming that "flying spaghetti monster" gets 138,000
google hits, while "invisible pink unicorn" only has 9,300 hits.
I mean, the IPU is the OLDER fake religion, so that means it's truer...

Frankly, I'm livid at that depiction of the FSM. The FSM has 4

Yeah, it has entered the mainstream. I came home today from my
friends' place and my mom had cut out an article from the paper she
said I "had to read". Turns out it was this article. She says she
read the article then went to the site and said it was hilarious. I
said I'd known of FSMism for months.
But if SHE knows, it must be mainstream.

Dobbs was assinated an a Devival some years back.
I see the FSM and Cthulhu as avatars of the same creature, or at least
brothers in the GES (Grand E-scat-o'logical Scheme.)
They both rank somewhere below scarier dieties among the elder Gods.
For a sustantial cut of the profits, I would be glad to manage the Frop
sales at a Balinese Puppet show about such an encounter, especially since
the use of Frop would cause such a show to be indistinguishable from a
"Real" fight.

Conformista, Il (1970)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065571/
aka "Conformiste, Le" - France
aka "The Conformist" - USA
This story opens in 1938 in Rome, where Marcello has just taken a job
working for Mussollini and is courting a beautiful young woman who will
make him even more of a conformist. Marcello is going to Paris on his
honeymoon and his bosses have an assignment for him there. Look up an
old professor who fled Italy when the fascists came into power. At the
border of Italy and France, where Marcello and his bride have to change
trains, his bosses give him a gun with a silencer. In a flashback to
1917, we learn why sex and violence are linked in Marcello's mind.
