Object: Viruses protect the earth?
Why are new viruses coming to age? Some might say it has always happened,
they come and go. Maybe.
My theory (guess) is that the Earth has become ill and it has reacted like
we do when we become ill, develop a fever. This fever, we call Global
Warming, has set off the Earth's defense mechanisms which are like white
blood cells in our immune system. Viruses like the H5N1 ironically have
become the Earth's white blood cells and they will soon try to eliminate the
virulent infection that we are.
We are taxing the Earth's perfectly balanced biosphere because we have taken
our environment for granted, every single one of us through ignorance.
However, with modern science we are just now realizing just how truly
magnificent our ecosystem is. Should we be scared of what might happen? I
foremost am in awe of how this planet works, to begin to finally understand
how all biology interacts on Earth outweighs my fear of the self dying. We
need to lose our self-centeredness if we stand a chance of surviving as the
human race. The beginning of that change in our hearts will be when we
realize that a starving child in Uganda is also some of our self dying.
So if in 5 or 20 years from now 1/3rd of humanity is dying do not blame God.
Blame the law of biology second to our own actions. For example, if you
throw a rock up in the air and it hits you in the head do you shake your
fist at the sky and blame God? Or do you yell at the law of gravity for
forcing the rock upon your head? What's funny, we have all hurt ourselves in
similar fashion but you notice how forgiving we are compared to when some
else accidentally hurts us? Is not our first instinct to wish that same pain
on the one that hurt us? The change has to happen at the core of our moral
foundation if we are to have a chance of making the Earth a better place for
humanity and as we learn to love others as ourselves then might we have
peace on earth.

Wow, look at all the hoops you have to jump through when you dismiss
evolution. The real explanation would take a short paragraph and be
easily understood by most children.

If you think about it evolution can theoretically dismiss it self. The most
evolved species on earth has the capacity to annihilate every living
organism on earth if all the nuclear bombs are used today, thus bringing the
business of evolving back to zero.

most evolved species on earth

That's a misnomer. There is no 'most evolved' because evolution is not a
goal oriented process. The most we can say is intelligence is a useful
trait and humans are the 'most intelligent' species.

has the capacity to annihilate every living
organism on earth if all the nuclear bombs are used today, thus
bringing the business of evolving back to zero.

Yeah, and species that lasted a hell of a lot longer than we've been
here eventually went extinct. Life is part of the environment in which
all life adapts and evolves. The whole thing can be thrown off balance
and result in mass extinctions. It's not a punishment, a goal, or a
value judgement. It's just the way things are.

species is the cockroach, it strives to survive.

It's just the way things are? Listen to what you just said and think about
it and now reason with me on this point. According to your institutionalized
education, from an evolutionist point of view, we should be announcing the
most amazing event in evolution since the tadpole shook its tail off and
graced the earth. According to evolution, humans took millions of years to
get to the point we are today. Then the amazing news is that we have
evolved so much and our knowledge has grown at an exponentially faster rate
in the last 500 years and especially in the last 100 years. Believe it or
not the only place that makes a point about this history making event is
found in the pages of the Bible ( OK, atheist roll your eyes now). In it is
says that towards the end of civilization as we now it there will be and
increase of knowledge and that people will be traveling to and fro
(airplanes). Think what you want, but isn't it amazing how much we humans
have accomplished in the last 100 years of our evolution?

What? Ascending into a god-like energy being? Perhaps it'll happen - in
a million years, perhaps not.

According to evolution, humans took millions of years to
get to the point we are today. Then the amazing news is that we have
evolved so much and our knowledge has grown at an exponentially faster rate
in the last 500 years and especially in the last 100 years.

The amazing news is, that albeit more intelligent than the rest of the
world, we're still stupid. We created the Christian myth, a religion in
which we're rulers of the Earth and go do with it as we please, and as a
result we're raping the planet, without bothering to check whether the
planet may be able to handle it.
Wait... you still haven't given this so-called "news" that education
should be announcing. In fact, I'd say NO education announces any
"news", they announce new scientific findings, but not "news", we've got
the news for that.

Believe it or

No, it doesn't.
"Traveling to and fro" does not equal "airplanes". You can travel to and
fro with ships, with horses; or what the bible writers meant: across
paved roads. The big empire of evil was the Roman Empire that made paved
roads allowing quick traversing of country. They're knowledge was quite
high: building stone houses and bridges wherever they pleased. The great
Messiah would come; and a final cleansing Armageddon battle would ensue
with him and his righteous armies, against the Roman (evil) empire...
after which the Earth would be paradise once more, inhabited only by the
144,000 righteous followers of the Messiah. Of course, the fight did
come; except the Romans killed them all, and the rest is history.
Do note that the "sons of god" the Messiah sect that believed Jesus
would return from heaven to destroy the Roman empire (and everyone else)
that Jesus himself was a part of, wanted to wipe out every living human
being off the face of the planet except their 144,000 righteous
followers. That's not just Rome, but also fellow Jews who didn't believe
exactly like they did, as well as the northern peoples, the eastern
people: each and every single last one. Which makes them (and by proxy
Jesus/his early followers) actually WORSE than Hitler: he just wanted to
kill the Jews - Jesus wanted to kill everyone.

The guys wanting to kill all life but their select chosen few, and their
leader Joshua "Jesus Christ", are the one's whose "prophecies" and
stories ARE the bible. The false prophet of revelations the one people
should look out for, is Paul. They weren't the future, it was right then
and there, and THEY wrote it, THEY know what it meant, and WE know
through the Dead Sea scrolls.

So if in 5 or 20 years from now 1/3rd of humanity is dying do not blame God.

Why would you post this to an atheist newsgroup? And, by the way, in 5
or 20 years from now 100% of humanity will be dying, just as they
always have.

Huh? Is that what YOU wish?

The change has to happen at the core of our moral
foundation if we are to have a chance of making the Earth a better place for
humanity and as we learn to love others as ourselves then might we have
peace on earth.

I don't see how loving one another is going to prevent Global Warming.
