Object: Was Darwin a Racist?
PZ Myers examines creationist dishonesty (again!) over at
scienceblogs. Read it all, including the comments, especially comment
#49 by Ed Darrell, where creationist lies about Darwin's purported
"racism" are hung, drawn, and quartered.

Every sensible person is racist: the question is whether we should allow
the obvious - that the races and genders are not equal - outside of our
private lives.
If we allow racism in public policy, the differences are exaggerated,
even reversed: women make better ministers of religion than men.
So while I know the average Afro-Caribbean is 5% less intelligent than
the average white person, who is 2% less intelligent than the average
native of India, anyone does business on that basis is a c"nt.
People from Ghana speak excellent English, almost as good as the Dutch,
and have a better sense of humour even than British men (women hardly
have a sense of humour). You can probably list exceptions to every one
of those, people who should never be disadvantaged owing to their race.
As a child in a bording school, an older pupil from Ghana walked into our
bedroom, wearing a white dressing gown, seeking tobocco. He didn't turn
on the light, did not speak, until he got to the middle of the room, and
said, "no, it's not a walking dressing gown."

Don't think so.

It's obvious that genders are not equal, but how do you define races?
We are aware of the physical and cultural differences among humans,
but this is not racism unless you discriminate rights and duties based
on them.

If we allow racism in public policy, the differences are exaggerated,
even reversed: women make better ministers of religion than men.

I don't understand this.

Anecdote.

If anything, Darwin was LESS of a racist than most of his peers.

That's what I was thinking, too.

That's an old lie that has been hung, drawn, and quartered many times.
Same old same old.

What do you mean, again? The proper term would be 'continues.'
Ah, that 'uplifting' Christian 'morality.'
