Ever since the power crisis here in California and the rampant growth in my
area(much to the zero growth zealots chagrine). I thought that all new
residential construction could be required to equip the homes/apartments
with solar arrays. Proportional to the square footage or whatever expected
energy load given the appliances installed... You could factor in the
energy efficiency of the building and appliances also.
Given some of the seismic, fire and other codes. I don't think this
addition is excessive. Especially on new construction. Also, if a builder
is buying solar systems for one thousand houses, I would think the cost
would go down. And the various incentives wouldn't hurt either.
