Object: Well, at least it's not in the US this time.
Pilgrims flock to image of Jesus on Bosnian tree
Fri Jul 29, 6:44 AM ET
Christians are flocking to a northwestern Bosnian town to view an image of
Jesus Christ that allegedly appeared in a section of a cut tree branch two
days ago, Bosnian media reported on Friday.
The image resembling Jesus' face cannot be seen from a close distance but
only from a few metres away. The branch in the town of Bijeljina was cut
about a year ago, said Oslobodjenje daily.
Sceptics have dismissed the image as a freak of nature, but pilgrims have
been streaming to the tree, kneeling before it to pray, lighting candles,
leaving money and cutting off bark to take home.
The region's Serb Orthodox bishop Vasilije visited the site and said church
officials would discuss the phenomenon and advise believers how to behave.
He appealed to visitors not to destroy the tree and not to leave money at
the site.

For some reason the eyes of the figure were closed, but now they have

Others claim to have seen the statue open it's right eye and turn it's

Holy crap! Also virtually in my backyard! I don't live too far from
Hoboken. My husband's cousin lives there. I'll have to ask him to check it
out :)

Well, like I've always said, if a thing disappears when you look too closely, it
was probably never there to begin with. <G>

Once upon a time in alt.atheism, dear sweet Robibnikoff
(witchypoo@broomstick.com) made the light shine upon us with this:

Sceptics have dismissed the image as a freak of nature, but pilgrims have
been streaming to the tree, kneeling before it to pray, lighting candles,
leaving money and cutting off bark to take home.

Once again jeezuz tries to return, but can't get beyond the second
dimention. Pityful performance for an omniscient god, no?

These people are desperate. If someone burns some toast and it looks
like George Carlin, nobody cares. We know Georgie exists. Obviously,
deep down, the christers know christ is just a myth.

The area where this "thing" is located is extremely run down. Let's put it
this way - I wouldn't got there by myself if I didn't have to. I wonder if
the high poverty, low education rate has anything to do with this type of
sighting?

Has anybody reported seeing Jesus in soiled bedsheets yet?
"I used to consider my son's bedwetting a problem until Jesus showed
up in an image on his soiled bedsheet," said one woman who no longer
bothers cleaning the dirty sheets. "It's saved me a lot of work," she
said.
