I'm quite glad that it will be about 335 more days until total strangers
can break out the "merry xmas" proselytizing ***** again. Even better
will be to not have to see as many pandering shows about jebus on TV. Of
course, there is no chance that people will take down their xmas lights
for at least another 6 months, but that's a different story :). Anyway,
there's still new years eve and xian fuckwads have a hard time stealing a
drunken party like that.
p.s. I hope boxing day goes well *for those to whom it applies*.

Well, let's expose what you don't know.
The Baptism of the Lord is celebrated in the Christian community 8 days after
Christmas. Baptism replaced circumcision on the 8th day. This is one of the
old acts from over 2000 years ago. Baptism represents a new life, a new
something. In this case it's a new life in God. The new year is yet another
"AD" year, in this case 2004 years after the Birth of Christ.
That's the history of January 1 for 2000 years now. Football, drunken parties,
and the like were added by atheists 50 or so years ago.
Better luck next time, quib.

Ummm, not only that the math doesn't work. (25 + 8 = 33) - 31 = 2, so
it would be January 2nd. Yet another proof that dookie is not an
engineer.

Prove it, liar.

In the Jewish tradition, babies were circumcised 8 days after birth. In
Christanity, baptism replaces circumcision. Eight days after Christmas day, the
day for which we celebrate the birth of Chris, is now called January 1.
For us Christians, baptism is new life in the Lord. The secular follow on is a
start of something new, ie, a new year.

That math is 2000 years old, angry.

Christian math hasn't been able to get it right in 2000 years!! You
obviously never were and never will be an engineer.

Is there any reason to believe you?

The evidence in all your posts.

From what he writes below, he obviously has not reread what he
posted earlier in this thread to find out what you are trying to
tell him!

He never seems to be aware of what he has written.

Not even while he's writing it.

Well, I realize all the evidence is fully supportive - of my position. My
evidence fully reflects the futility of your arguments, though.

Oops, excuse me - you don't have any argument - you just say "no" to truth.

Same difference.

If they're different, they aren't the same. Most adults realize that.

And you little atheists are really so easy.

Because we haven't trained ourselves to believe contradictory things.

That's why they're the same difference.

You can't handle things that are not contradictory.

That's the history of January 1 for 2000 years now. Football, drunken parties,
and the like were added by atheists 50 or so years ago.

You said "Football, drunken parties, and the like were added by
atheists 50 or so years ago." Robyn asked you to prove that claim.
You can't. Nice dodge, though.

Since the day of Jesus' birth was in the spring, summer or fall
(according to the bible) until more than 1,000 years after the
supposed fact, Earl's claim isn't capable of being proved.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know about the Baptism of the Lord going
back 2000 years ago, and when football got started on that day of "new
beginning".
