on the Internet. Luckily we are always close when she is allowed on the
computer. Because there on the page, totally out of context and
designed to snare innocents, was a horribly pornographic website.

Which should come as no surprise. As glorious as the Internet is, it is
used by millions of people today as a source of masturbatory images.
Put simply, the West has managed to turn so much that is golden into
base metal.

Sex itself should be the supreme and supremely pleasurable act of
physical love between two married people. Instead it has become a
commercial enterprise as the mindless worship at the cult of the
orgasm.

Yet the West is not decadent.

Children should be living icons of marital fertility. Not now. Abortion
rates rise steadily

Abortion rates in the U.S. are much higher than in Europe. Don't blame
the rest of the West for America's inability to teach contraception.

greater than it has been for a century and multinational corporations
tell us what to drink, what to think and what to do. The environment is
raped, the planet abused and our dinner portions grow larger.

And, yet, the religious Fundamentalists align themselves with the
Republican party. They seem to think that it is worthwhile to give all
that money and power to the corporations as long as the party opposes
gay marriage and tries (sort of, kind of) to outlaw abortion. They
have sold their morality for a few fake gold pieces.

Except in those nations colonized by Europe and North America, and
where people of darker skin scrape out a life and, often, death. Here
we ignore and explain and justify.

Yet the West is not decadent.

Society, media and certain politicians encourage the casual use of
drugs and there are increasingly loud calls by elites and activists for
certain narcotics to be legalized or decriminalized.

How has prohibition been working for you? Are you stopping people from
doing drugs? Maybe if we spend a few more scores of billions of
dollars to put more people in prison (the U.S. already has the highest
% of its population in prison of any in the West) instead of
legalization and treatment it will finally work. What is truly
decadent is the kind of hypocritical posturing in the post I am
responding to, a "morality" that talks about rules and does not care
about people. What is truly decadent is the arrogance to judge and
condemn people without bothering to learn about the people themselves.
