Object: What are you doing with your holiday?
Since We are both pretty much out of relatives, we have a pretty
solitary holiday.
On the 24th we go to the casino for an INCREDIBLE dinner.
And on the 25th we sit around in our nightshirts and watch four
different variations of "A christmas carol" this year with both
futurama xmas specials as the added cartoon.
Hou about you? Any standard tradtions? Old or now?

Collect at mum and dad's place...eat...go home. Thing is with about 30
people in the family everything is usually very loud while all this is going
on. This year there were only 4 of us at home so it was very quiet and
subdued. Instead of mum slaving over the stove for two days we just got a
take away Xmas dinner from Red Rooster, then plum pudding and custard. All
very nice....but no left overs for the rest of the week! :(

Most Australians have seafood for Xmas dinner, but they can have that any
time they want. The reason we stick to the traditional roast is that it's
pretty much the only time of the year that we have turkey...and I fucking
hate seafood!!!

I live in Maine and dislike lobster. I do like crab and

when it was cooked in seaweed on the beach. Even then, I'd have
just as soon skipped it.

Last night was the annual present overload at my SIL's house. Tons of kids,
tons of presents, tons of food and tons of chaos :)
Today will be just my husband, the kid, myself and my mom. Prime rib and

Well, I never had kids, nor did my brother. Though thats still a
possiblity. And I watched as the fun stopped and Family Christmas
turned into a sort of dull coctail party. The fun was gone out of
it.

Amen.
Same jokes, same laughs, same bored people trying to act as though
they are having fun.
There are four little girls and their parents...my four year old
"grandaughter," one five months old, one three years and one five, all
cousins, opening presents, giggling, laughing and hugging everybody in
sight in my living room as I type this.
<I'm taking a smoke break in the garage>
This has been the best christmas I've had in years.
It just isn't as much fun for some of us without little kids being the
focus.

Peace and quiet is nice, but it comes too soon, enjoy the wonderful
chaos while you still have it. :(

Heh.
My five year old neice is just now departing her deliberately
disobedient, smartass, testing the bounderies stage.

After my mom moved away and my grandparents died, the family I had
left simply disowned me, "Perversion of gods plan for me that I am"
I brought them a present and tried to show up last year, I wasnt even

Damn!
That's unbelievably cruel :-(
I will be gracious and not express my opinion of them since they are
your relatives.

So you can be out of the holiday "loop" very quickly, sometimes long
before you expect to be.

Unfortunately true.
And very sad.
Hang in there.
Make good things happen by taking control.
That's what I did this year and it's been wonderful despite a couple
of family members including my mother trying to screw it up.
I envisioned the kind of christmas I wanted months ago and have been
working on it since.
It turned out better than I could have hoped.

No attempt at fraud. IF you notice, I still post the same old

I didn't suggest fraud or anything else. I simply stated I was
unaware you had changed your nick.
I do hope things have settled down and improving.

Don't believe it, she is fooling you.

It's so easy to do :-)

Heh.
No doubt :-)
My four year old "granddaughter" is the light of my life.
She and her mother live with me and she is bringing me back to my
senses.
Sort of washing away the jaded bitterness about life that I've accrued
over the last few years.
She loves to shop.
It doesn't matter which or what kind of store.

"Pleeeese Grandpa."
"Maybe later."
"Pleeeze oh mighty Grandpa!"
"Ok."
Lol!
I should never have taught her that :-)
