What Do Al-Queda And Chuck Bone.................. |
.........And The God Hates Fags Queers, Have In Common?
They all suck *****.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A soldier's death is a tragedy. It is an uncomfortable truth that
soldiers die in battle. Our nation should mourn every time one of these
men is brought back in a wooden box. Each death is a loss suffered not
just by the family, but by the entire nation.
Thankfully we have transcended our sordid past of spitting on returning
soldiers and calling them baby killers. I'd like to think that people
nowadays are more enlightened, more sensitive to the plight of our
soldiers overseas. Perhaps some of us can even empathize with their
daily struggle.
However, one particular group of people have taken their distaste of
the war to an unprecedented low. The events described below make me
sick to my stomach.
Westboro Baptist Church, a group out of Kansas, has seen fit to protest
the funeral of Kyle Jackson, a soldier whose helicopter was shot down
over Mosul, Iraq on Jan. 13th. He was killed in the crash.
At a time when families come to mourn their loss, these despicable,
so-called Christians, feel the need to spit in the faces of those who
suffer. They have no regard for the feelings of others, no empathy, no
conscience.
The Westboro Baptist Church is a far-right group that says America is
being punished for its acceptance of homosexuals. How they made the
connection between homosexuals and war is beyond me.
Their leader, Fred Phelps, has even gone so far as to say that the
Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center were God's punishment.
In their twisted logic, members of the WBC believe that homosexuals are
the cause for all the strife in America today.
I can understand, from a religious perspective, the group's anger
concerning the rise of gay rights in America over the past few decades.
But why they chose the funeral of a fallen soldier to protest gay
rights is beyond me.
Just out of common courtesy they should abstain from protesting this
soldier until he is in the ground. Have they no regards for the widow,
for the orphaned children? When a church is to exude love and
community, they promote hate and disrespect the dead. This group of
people should be ashamed of themselves.
The funeral of Kyle Jackson went off without a hitch, despite the yells
and screams of the Westboro Baptist Church.
There is a proper way to express one's ideas. Let me tell you that this
is not it. If they want to protest gay rights, they should take their
anger to Washington D.C., and leave these poor people out of their
dogmatic hate.
Fred Phelps, shame on you!
They actually are baby killers. Calling them so is a little ...
let's say impolite. The correct phrase is collateral damage.
That much is sure. One god or another has something to do with it.
Twisted logic? The bible tells us that god smote the Sodomites and
none survived. There are enough new-age-sodomites in New York to
warrant a thermo-nuclear device.
On the other hand the christian god is wary of collateral damage.
(Didn't it promise to spare Sodom, if even one "righteous man" could
be found? Compared to Bush the Judaic god is a bit of a wimp, not to
mention Jesus with his "turn the other cheek", "love thy enemies")
