What does Intelligent Design say about the evolution of consciousness? |
Awareness of reality (consciousness) has evolved in biological
organisms because it is a Darwinian survival trait. Do Intelligent
Design adherents agree with that, or do they reckon consciousness is
evidence of God's intervention in evolution? Does anyone here know?

They reckon that consciousness was created.
Not really a helpful reply - pretty well everyone knows that adherents
of Intelligent Design are Creationists. Do they reckon consciousness
is evidence of God's intervention in evolution? I know they regard
blood clotting and cilia as evidence (because of the IDs irreducible
complexity argument), but I haven't seen any ID views on consciousness
as an evolved trait - are there any? Or is consciousness the Mt.
Everest of ID doctrine - for ID adherents, all the other evidence of
God's intervention in evolutionary theory is supposed to point to
consciousness as God's greatest mysterious gift? If so, the best way
to help the ID kooks understand reality is to focus on explaining to
them what consciousness is and how it evolved.

creationist, but an ID proponent. Behe, for example?
