When God goes to war |
When God goes to war

Religions usually espouse peace and goodwill, so why have they sparked
so many conflicts?

We can be certain of one thing in 2004. Unless there is some
unimaginable breakthrough, we will see more religiously inspired
terrorism. It often seems that we might be better off without
religion. A cursory consideration of the crusades and persecutions of
Christian history shows that religious violence is not confined to the
Islamic world. If the different faiths really are committed to peace
and goodwill, why do they inspire such hatred, and why are their
scriptures so aggressive?

"So much blood has been shed by the Church because of an omission from the Gospel: "Ye
shall be indifferent as to what your neighbor's religion is." Not merely tolerant of it,
but indifferent to it. Divinity is claimed for many religions; but no religion is great
enough or divine enough to add that new law to its code."

Cheney will blindfold Bush, Rummy will spin the globe, and wherever

What if the dart hits the Pacific Ocean? You mean the whales get it?

He'll just find the nearest small island, declare the inhabitants
thereof 'terrists' and invade it.

Only if Haliburton can find a use for whale oil.

Expect another rocket sent to murder innocent civilians,
like last week in the Gaza Strip. And now Adolf Sharon
plans to build more "settlements" on other people's land.
Who are we going to invade now?

Don't you mean Cheney will blindfold the globe, Rummy
will spin Shrub's words, and they will dart to the
next place to invade?
