I'm always glad to see friendly faces, Karl. Truth is, I don't have
nearly enough
time to play on here like I used to. And honestly, it may just be me,
but it looks a
lot meaner than it used to. It was always a free-for-all, but there
were always people
willing to start a pun thread, or goof around, or have really good
chewy discussions,
too. There's only so much "Yer going to hell! Yer a moron!" I can
take before I start
wanting to chew my leg off.
But I do like to pop over secretly from time to time, just to see how

I don't know... I remember the days of Dr Sinister, his

out-and-out antagonistic then. But maybe I'm reading

Hi Sunny
Hello, Papa Mark :-)
How's the little one?
He is turning 6 in a couple of weeks - and he is doing really well.
Getting to be so grown up - but he still gives the best cuddles.
He is in his first year of primary (elementary) school this year.
I suppose your kids have all flown the nest?
Haven't seen him around lately.

I think so.
There is still some occasional fun to be had, but it is pretty full of
crazy and angry people.
They were always there of course, but they just seem to dominate now.
I still pop in regularly to see whats up - usually nothing too
intellectually stimulating.

Google says his last post was march 2007 so perhaps he has given up on
the place - I will keep my eyes open for him though.

Well, pay attention. My youngest son used to routinely fall asleep
on
my lap, and I remember at some point realizing that one of those times
would be the last one. Poignant moment, and it made me treasure it a
great deal, but he's fifteen now and taller than I am, so it probably
is just
as well :-)
Now that he's a little older, who does he look like more?
He is in his first year of primary (elementary) school this year.
I suppose your kids have all flown the nest?
One has finally graduated college and is heading to law school, one's
a
Marine currently deployed, and my baby is a freshman in high school.
It's been a wonderful journey, and I'd do it again in a skinny minute.

It reminds me of hecklers at a show. A few of them aren't a problem,
and even
may add a little flavor to the show, but there's some magic tipping
point where
they actually *become* the show that nobody sane to see.
Good to see you, and if you see Ted, tell him to stop bouncing.

I don't think they were ever thick on the ground - but Keith, Tichy -
even Dr Sinister (and assorted allies) could give a good account of
themselves.
In the good old days...
Occasionally I use Google to search out old threads from 1999 or 2000
- its fun to come across some old friends and enemies.
There did seem to be more interesting stuff going on back then.
Perhaps this medium has had its day?
I still occasionally get pointed towards an interesting news story or
science article by coming here.
The power of Google and websites like New Scientist are starting to
make this place redundant for that as well.

When there is a Dover school district creationism case, or a Brittany
McComb case (say, maybe it's time to goggle-update on that one) I
check in here to see if there is interesting coverage or links.
Another fact is that of late, Christopher Hitchens and colleagues are
making the case better, and more widely, than is being here. All we
need say to a theist mounting an argument, is to have someone read
those books to them. ;-)

*Someone* has to bring it. Remember the words to the old song, "In

I think it's already established that in heaven, there is no beer.
They probably confiscate it at the door/Gate, much like joint-clipping rent-a-cops at rock
