Where there's smoke, there's flaming faggots |
'Gay cowboy movie' doing good business in Bush Country.
by George Poague
When "Brokeback Mountain" premiered in December, pundits began setting
it up as a clash between the values of red-state and blue-state America.
Right-wing blowhards like Bill O'Reilly and Michael Medved predicted
the movie would die between the coasts. Sure, they reasoned, the movie
might be a hit in such bastions of godless liberalism as New York and
California.
But in Heartland America, the public would soundly reject this film about
"gay cowboys."
It didn't happen that way. "Brokeback Mountain" is doing good business
in states that voted for President Bush, including Tennessee.
