JACKASSERY: Federal lawmakers are considering the broadest effort ever to
limit what children eat: a national ban on selling candy, sugary soda and
salty, fatty food in school snack bars, vending machines and a la carte
cafeteria lines. Whether the measure, an amendment to the farm bill, can
survive the convoluted politics that have bogged down that legislation in
the Senate is one issue. Whether it can survive the battle among factions in
the fight to improve school food is another.

Is it better that liberals kill their pre-born instead of being born
to crappy single-parents, living on welfare, institutionalized in the
public school system with a much higher probability of becoming
involved in drugs and crime?

Funny how this one is coming full circle. When Beaverton spent that
money on a high speed pizza cutter, the argument was that they are
served fatty pizza because that's what they'll eat and you gotta serve
them what they'll eat. Maybe they can trade in those high speed
pizza cutters for high speed salad tossers.

Wait, you object to government control over public schools, which are
owned and run by the government. If I'm getting you right, you think
that the government regulating what happens on property it is
responsible for maintaining and operating is somehow a horrid attack
on your rights.
Nothi9ng in this bill prevents a kid from packing a lunch consisting

At $10K a kid and contracts with Coke, public education is about
making money. If they want the kids to lose weight give their parents
tax break for home schooling where they will eat a turkey sandwich and
glass of milk instead of bag of chips and can of pop. When I was a kid
school food sucked - yesterday's grilled cheeze sandwich was today's
crutons - and the kids were a lot thinner. Today, even the oriental
kids are chubby.
