FYI Fred Phelps Phelps is a registered Democrat!
In 1988, Phelps housed campaign workers for Al Gore's first
presidential run; in 1989, his eldest son, Fred Jr., hosted a
fundraiser for Gore's Senate campaign at his home . . . Because of
their years as loyal Democrats, the Phelpses have even been invited to
-- and attended -- both of Clinton's inaugurations.
Fred Phelps, registered Democrat, organizer of Democratic activities
and fund-raiser for Al Gore and Bill Clinton, also criticized the
invasion of Iraq, sent a warm letter to Saddam Hussein full of
compliments for his regime while asking for (and receiving) permission
to send protesters against the coming Iraq invasion, claimed that the
U.S. deserved September 11th (and that London deserved the recent
bombings), and praised Castro for his leadership and moral stance
against homosexuality.

If he is, he is from the zell miller school of liberalism, which means
that he is no liberal and everyone knows it. He still calls himself a
Democrat, refusing to change just because his party has long, long
ago. Everything Phelps stands for is diametrically opposed to any
liberal platforms and values. There is nothing "democratic" or liberal
about his views. In fact he parallels with all the homophobic
evangelical whack jobs.
He runs a very conservative right wing religious school. You know a
rose by any other name is well a conservative.

On today's Sean Hannity show, Hannity had a rip roaring rant over
"protesters" showing up and protesting at a soldiers funeral in
Martinsville, Indiana. He called these protesters the worst kind of
"ultra left-wing liberal." With a little help from Google, I found
exactly who he was calling liberal. Turns out, the liberal was none
other than the GodHatesFags.com founder, Fred Phelps.

I really don't think Hannity was calling Phelps a liberal. He never
named the protesters as he usually does with Sheehan or Code Pink,
this protester was unnamed. He also never said what was on the protest
signs. I think he was just only using half the story to brew up hate
and anger at those of us who are supportive of the troops and against
the war in Iraq. That kinda puts Hannity on Phelp's level - it is all
about the hate.

Yup that explains why Phelps remains prominent in state and local
politics, working for years as a major organizer for the state's
Democratic Party. He even hosted a fund raiser for Gore's Senate
campaign at his home. Gore sought the support of the Phelps family in
his 1988 presidential campaign.
He was invited and attended both of Clinton's inaugurations.

You do realize that most of the members of his church are his
extended family. His church is so small that there are only a dozen or
