Who is the real God??? |
If God existed and wanted us to adore and obey him he certainly would make
at least a minimal attempt to convince us of his existence.
There are thousands of Gods and religious beliefs. There are many religions
with elaborate documentation claiming their authenticity. Which is the true
God? And why doesn't the true God go on international TV and demonstrate
that HE is the real God? Why doesn't he smite all the other Gods to
eliminate the confusion and false beliefs?

If this God is all-powerful, then he can stop the suffering of the innocent.
If this God is all-knowing, then he knows how to stop the suffering of the
innocent.
If this God is all-loving, then he wants to stop the suffering of the
innocent.
Yet the innocent (infants, mentally-impaired, young children, animals) still
suffer.
The same argument could apply to our knowledge of this god:
If this god is all-powerful, then he can provide the sort of evidence we
need for belief.
If this god is all-knowing, then he knows what sort of evidence is required.
If this god is all-loving, then he wants all of us to believe, and thus
would want to provide the sort of evidence necessary for belief.
Yet so many of us do not believe because no such evidence has been
presented.

a way that there's no need for him/her/it.

Atheists have it easy. All they have to say is "There is no God.
Period." All others (non-atheists? natheists?) have first to
characterize God. The God of Christianity resembles Jupiter/Zeus in
that he is strongly anthropomorphized. They say "he wants, he likes, he
doesn't like, he loves, etc" If I were to believe in a God, it would be
the God of the first chapter of Genesis. He kinda disappears after that
into our familiar anthropomorphic fantasy. That verse doesn't describe
him/her/it, name him/her/it or characterize him/her/it in any way. It's
the closest to a description of a basic force of nature than is found in
any other religion.

I've never read the bible, so I can't comment on the "Genesis" part of
it. But it you think that the god description in it is, quote, "the
closest to a description of a basic force of nature", then it describes
a sort of big bang, and there's no need to worship it.
"God" needs to be anthropomorphized if you want to establish some sort
of religion, because if you don't, you can't control people.
BTW, few atheists assert that there's no god. There's no evidence of any
god or gods, so we dont' believe.

Yes, I agree with you.
If this 'God' wants us to believe in 'him' why would he allow other
religions to exist?
Why would he allow people to grow-up in cultures where 'false'
religions are the norm?
If 'God' could reveal himself here on earth (in all his glory and
compassion) and cause many skeptics (but otherwise good people) to
become 'saved'; wouldn't this seem the compassionate thing to do?
Why would such a compassionate Being favor 'faith' over reason and
clarity?
Faith often isn't such a great thing.
e.g. Look at the dangers of 'blind' faith. Look at all the
different and contradictory religious beliefs
It seems that most people who live by faith:
Believe in the wrong gods.
Are doing the wrong actions.
And are promoting falsehoods.
If you believe-in something simply on religious faith then most likely
you will be wrong.
So why would a benevolent god want us to use this method?
