Family nudist swim night?!?!?!?! Oh my :P

Sounds better than "Family Snake-Handling Night", though the "Family
Nudist Swim Night" would get a quicker response from Child Protective
Services.

Why should Child Protective Services be interested?
Why should a family nudist swim night get any response from anyone -- other
than from nudists wanting to attend?

I agree. But in Texas, you can bet that some fundy nut would complain to
CPS about children at a nude family swim, and that they would be heard.
You can also be certain that snake handling does occur in churches, and
children attend.

Texas has at least 12 large nudist resorts, with children present at all of
them. I've been to most of them, and never heard of problems with CPS.

Just don't try that at Hippie Hollow (a county park) on Lake Travis
outside of Austin. A couple of years ago, a family lost a court battle
with the county to take their kids there.

Not quite correct. Kids had been going there forever. Then the county passed
an ordinance forbidding children. Mr and Mrs Robert Morton, a prominent nudist
couple, sued. They claimed the ordinance violated their constitutional right
to raise their children according to their beliefs. They did eventually lose
-- because appeals courts refused to tackle that hot potato.
A similar case is now underway in Virginia.

Was that the place where the excursion boat capsized because the people
on board all rushed to one side to get a better look? I forget, but I
think that was about six or seven years ago.

Just don't try that at Hippie Hollow (a county park) on Lake
Travis
outside of Austin. A couple of years ago, a family lost a court
battle
with the county to take their kids there.

Not quite correct. Kids had been going there forever. Then the
county
passed
an ordinance forbidding children. Mr and Mrs Robert Morton, a
prominent
nudist
couple, sued. They claimed the ordinance violated their
constitutional
right
to raise their children according to their beliefs. They did
eventually
lose
-- because appeals courts refused to tackle that hot potato.

Was that the place where the excursion boat capsized because the
people
on board all rushed to one side to get a better look? I forget, but
I
think that was about six or seven years ago.

I believe so.

Yeah. I checked and it only happened last year. Somehow I thought it
was
earlier. There goes the old mind again.

Well I sure remember what I was after in my dads Station Wagon, and some
nudity was involved as I remember, while it wasn't a religious experience,
it was as close as I ever have gotten. I did do some praying, err aahh, more
like begging, and that was the only praying, ah, begging that ever got
answered, and it was most assuredly not a god (a goddess, well I'd have give
that one a pretty close) that answered my prayers err I mean begging. Anyway
everyone was quite pleased, after all was said and done. Surprisingly after
that, I didn't need to do any praying or begging, far from it.
What this has to do with a bunch of nekid xians in a Station Wagon I am not
really sure, other than it reminded me of one of those outstanding life

Title: Christian Naturists 02 Feb 2005 08:14:40 PM

Christian Naturists? Something tells me that we're not going to see
that in Alabama or Texas.

WRONG!
There are a lot of the critters, and they're everywhere -- including Alabama
and Texas.
"Christian Naturists" does NOT mean "naturists who are Christians":
unsurprisingly, in countries with a lot Christians, most naturists are
Christians.
Instead, "Christian Naturist" refers to Christian Evangelicals who have invaded
and seek to convert the nudist/naturist movement from secular, tolerant, and
inclusive to the Christian Naturists' highly intolerant, essentially fundie
Christianity -- complete with all the usual Christian Family Values.
Christian Naturists argue (reasonably) that there's nothing in the bible --
properly understood -- that's anti-nudity. That's nothing new: a lot of
Christians figured that out a long time ago.
However, the Christian Naturists go on and on about gawd and jesus, witness
interminably, try to turn every nudist/naturist group into a fundie
congregation, and bring all their anti-personal-freedom attitudes with them.
Although some of them are smart enough to keep some of their strictures to
themselves when they first invade a nudist/naturist group, they're vehemently
against gays, booze, smoking, tattoos, body jewelry, dancing while nude, pube
shaving, and any form of sex outside marriage.
Some of them -- a majority, I think -- even oppose sex in marriage in private
at nudist places. Like, me and hubby aren't supposed to get it on in our own
damn RV or cabin or motel room while we're at a nudist resort!
Their favorite word (aside from gawd and jesus) is 'pervert' which they apply
to anyone whose morality isn't exactly like theirs.
Their next favorite word is "swinger": anyone who questions their "family
values" or who just ignores all the gawd/jesus crap is labeled a "swinger."
They frequently combine the two terms: anyone who resists them is a "swinger
pervert" or a "pervert swinger."
This has been going on for ten years or so, maybe 15. I think they've peaked,
and are declining in numbers and influence, but it's hard to tell sometimes so
I could be wrong about that.
They sure are pests!
Incidentally, Alabama has at least one nudist resort and one nudist social
club. Texas has at least 12 nudist resorts and nine nudist social clubs. And
I don't mean (actual) swinger clubs.
:-)
