"The condition of alienation, of being asleep, of being unconscious,
of being out of one's mind, is the condition of the normal man. Society
highly values its normal man.It educates children to lose themselves
and to become absurd, and thus to be normal. Normal men have killed
perhaps 100,000,000 of their fellow normal men in the last fifty years."

Dreaming is most probably a by-product of information processing and pruning
that happens during REM sleep. I think of it as database re-indexing, same
as what I schedule for my database servers every night. The Scientific
American has had a number of interesting articles on sleep and dreams over
the years.

Methinks it was a rhetorical question from someone trying to make a point
(although what that point may be is utterly beyond me)
......but I could be wrong.

Whether the original poster intended it to be or not, it is still a
fascinating question. All organisms with developed brains dream, and the
brain seriously malfunctions when it is deprived.

My dream-come-true's have come and gone. After wrecking them all

Oh my life is changing everyday
in every possible way
And oh my dreams
it's never quite as it seems
Never quite as it seems
I know I felt like this before
But now I'm feeling it even more
Because it came from you
Then I open up and see
The person falling here is me
A different way to be
A different way to be
