Why The Holy Bible Lies #2 |
Another reason we know the Bible lies is that we do not have even one
original text. Not one. Neither do we know who the authors are in the
vast majority of instances, nor do we have any testimony as to their
veracity, integrity or reliability. What do we even know with any
confidence, of their agenda?
Bart Ehrman, in "Misquoting Jesus"
http://tinyurl.com/2ffneb
goes into some introductory detail about, as an example, the book of
Galatians. Galatians may well be the very earliest piece of the NT
that we have. The earliest reasonably complete manuscript of it is
incomplete and dates to 150 years after Paul wrote it.
Do one hundred and fifty years of copying lie behind it - or are there
150 lies behind its copy? Or both? We know that this epistle was a
desperate one - written when the Christian movement had already begun
to collapse under its own dead weight, and Paul had the nerve to diss
the Rock upon which Jesus had (so legend has it) built his church!
We believe that Paul never wrote it himself, but we don't know if he
dictated it word for word or just gave the gist of it to a scribe, who
filled in the details. It's possible he didn't even do that much.
We don't know exactly what he means by "...the churches of Galatia..."
for that matter, but we do know this was one of the epistles which
wrested Christianity from the Jews it was originally delivered to by
its titular founder.
Paul wasn't one of the apostles. It's hard to meet a myth, but even if
there were a Jesus, Paul most certainly never met him. Yet he took
over the church and in his own image he made it. He made it so
strongly in his image that there was a huge fight - and not one of
Jesus' apostles won it. Paul won it.
Saul of Tarsus - the enemy of Christianity, the Roman who was dedicated
to bringing it down - actually succeeded in his quest, by pretending to
go over to the enemy and shredding their movement from the inside!
This is why there are or have been some 20,000 Christian sects in the
world - twenty thousand sects worshipoping the "one true god". A new
one every month, every year since it began. Paul usurped Christianity
from its mythical founder! The whole Christian edifice is a lie!

Why don't you just give her a sensible answer?

Personally I have no idea. I've always said no one knows if there was a Noahan
flood or not.
YOU are the dumb one that says there wasn't. I keep asking you how do you know?

If the Bible doesn't lie, there was, according to Bible chronology as
laid out in Luke, a global flood some 4,300 years ago.
Unfortunately, there isn't a single shred of scientific evidence for a
catastrophic global flood as depicted in Genesis, not 4,300 years ago,
nor at any time in the past as far as geology records. The facts of
science mitigate heavily against a global flood even being possible.
If there was no flood, the Bible actually *does* lie, and is therefore
not a reliable guide to any god, to any god's plans, or to any god's
purposes and isn't worth the parchment it's written on.
It, like you, is that simple. The fact that you've been repeatedly
hammered with these simple facts and still don't get it is reliable
proof that you're an idiot.
Until and unless you start presenting **EVIDENCE** to support your
inane vacuous blather, you're not worth talking to. That register
with you?
In fact, until you get sufficient smarts to realize that the Moon does
indeed rotate about its axis, you're not worth even this much
explanation because you lack the intellect to grasp basic science.
Got it now, Dimwit?

So?
Asserting that Alexander was a mortal human king who conquered a
great part of the world, leaving cities such as Alexandria in his
wake, is not a spectacular claim. It is unfortunate that the
record of his life is not more complete, but of no ultimate
significance.
Asserting that Jesus Christ was the miracle-working son of the
Virgin Mary and YHWH, yada yada, is a claim so astounding as to
defy all logic, experience, and extant evidence. And, if the claim
actually /is/ true, it truly is of ultimate significance.
Which is why it's regrettable that there's not as much as we'd
like about Alexander, but a slam-dunk case that there's absolutely
zero credible evidence of Jesus combined with mountains of
evidence that he didn't exist.
Now, if you had compared Jesus to Hercules or Orpheus or Oedipus
instead of Alexander, you would have had an excellent point. It
just wouldn't have been the point you were trying to make with
your Alexander reference....
Cheers,
b&

Why The Holy Bible lies:
The Holy Bible lies because it is much longer and wider than it is thick. It is
the ratio of length and width to thickness that determines how likely a Bible is
to be able to do anything other than lie down. The less thick it is, the more
difficult it is to keep it standing on any of its narrow sides.
In that, The Holy Bible bears some resemblance to a certain minority of the
Christians who believe themselves to follow it: As with the bloated-egos of
this certain minority of Christians, both they and The Bible can be said to be
"top-heavy" when standing upright. Another similarity is that as with The
Bible, which stands much more easily the thicker it is, a believer's faith is
much more easily upheld by an increased thickness in their skulls.
