Object: Why The Holy Bible Lies #41 - 50
Slavishly addicted to the Bible:
Exo. 21:2-7 "If thou buy an Hebrew servant...If he came in by himself,
he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go
out with him. If his master have given him a wife, and she have born
him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her
master's, and he shall go out by himself...And if a man sell his
daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants
do."
And:
Exo. 21:20-21 "And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a
rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be
punished: for he is his money."
So not only is it right to have slaves and to keep female slaves
indefinitely, while male slaves can go free at some point, it is also
right to forcibly separate a slave from his wife and children.
And it's fine to kill your slave as long as he dies a lingering
death. Don't forget: if you need to pay off your credit card, it is
perfectly okay under God's law, to sell your daughter (assuming you
haven't already let her be raped by a mob)....
This is not a case of the Bible lying. I don't doubt for a minute
that this is how they lived. But it is a case of Bible believers
lying today when they claim that the Bible and the religion it
engenders is anything to do with family values.
It isn't.
#41.
What good is God? Let's judge him by his works:
Exo. 21:24 "Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for
foot"
Mat. 5:38-39 "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye,
and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil:
but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the
other also."
Don't resist evil - you got it direct from God! Evil was invented by
God anyway, so how can it be bad? Let's see.
Exo. 32:14 "And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do
unto his people."
Deu. 7:15 "And the LORD will...put none of the evil diseases of
Egypt...upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee."
But this longsuffering, loving god does it anyway!
1 Sam. 16:14 "...and an evil spirit from the LORD terrified him."
2 Sam. 24:15 "So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the
morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from
Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men."
1 Kin. 22:23 "Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit
in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil
concerning thee."
Jer. 18:8 "If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from
their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them."
2 The. 2:11 "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion,
that they should believe a lie:"
Isa. 45:7 "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and
create evil: I the LORD do all these things."
Pro. 16:4 "The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the
wicked for the day of evil."
Let's get this straight for once and all: God is always planning
evil. Once in a while he doesn't carry out the evil he has planned,
and people think he's wonderful for it.
And the Bible lies that he's a good god.
#42.
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Liar?
Lev. 1:1 "And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of
the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, Speak unto the children of
Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto
the LORD..."
and then he goes on to offer some 30 or 40 verses of details on how to
sacrifice, but later:
Jer. 7:21-22 "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put
your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh. For I spake
not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought
them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or
sacrifices..."
Liar!
#43.
Deu. 12:31 "Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every
abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their
gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the
fire to their gods."
But:
Exo. 22:29 "...the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me."
No sacrifices?
And:
Jud. 11:30-39 "And Jephthah vowed...that whatsoever cometh forth of
the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the
children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD'S, and I will offer it up
for a burnt offering...and, behold, his daughter came out to meet
him...And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned
unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had
vowed..."
And:
2 Sam. 21:9-14 "...and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD:
and they fell all seven together, and were put to death...And he
brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his
son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged....and they
performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was
intreated for the land."
And:
1 Chr. 21:26 "And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and
offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD;
and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt
offering. And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword
again into the sheath thereof."
So here is God responding directly to a burnt offering, after lying
about it.
#44.
So much for communion:
Lev. 10:9 "Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with
thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation..."
And:
Eze. 44:21 "Neither shall any priest drink wine, when they enter into
the inner court."
But what about the rest of us?
Pro. 31:6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and
wine unto those that be of heavy hearts."
And:
Deu. 14:26 "And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul
lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong
drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth..."
But beware!
Pro. 23:29-30 "Who hath woe? who hath sorrow?...they that go to seek
mixed wine."
Are they lying that we should have wine? Are they lying that we
shouldn't? Are religious people today lying when they condemn drink?
Why is the "Word of God" so thoroughly confused and contradictory?
#45.
Holier than thou?
Lev. 11:44 "For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify
yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy..."
But:
Rev. 15:4 "Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for
thou only art holy..."
#46.
Lev. 14:33- "And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
When ye be come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a
possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of
your possession..."
What? So this promised land is going to be plagued by leprosy?
Rather than make his chosen people immune to it, this god then rambles
on with detailed instructions about how to deal with it!
Would it have been so hard for the omnipotent creator of the universe
to have made those who follow his laws totally immune to any disease,
rather than have to issue endless instructions about cleanliness? Is
he omnipotent? Is he a god of love? Or is the Bible simply lying
about this god? Do we really want to worship a God who is so
clueless, so evidently powerless, so risibly brain-dead?
#47.
It goes on:
Lev. 21:16-20 "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto
Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that
hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his
God...a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any
thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or
crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be
scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;"
So in other words, if you are handicapped in any way at all, no matter
how minor, you are not welcome in God's house.
Why does the Bible lie about this god being a loving, accepting god
when he's nothing but an appalling bigot?
#48
Num 1:45-47 "So were all those that were numbered of the children of
Israel...were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred
and fifty. But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not
numbered among them."
So not even counting the Levites, and counting only men (you know
women counted for nothing in the Bible...) over the age of twenty,
there were well over half a million Hebrews that Moses led out of
Egypt. Add to this number children and women and we're looking at
maybe 2 million Hebrews, just 1,000 years after a flood supposedly
wiped out the entire planet!
Unless the Bible lied about the flood.
How come there's no historical evidence of a sudden crash of the
Egyptian economy 3,000 years ago as a result of this massive exodus of
slaves that overall (according to the Bible) pretty much equaled the
Egyptian population? The Pharaoh Akhenaten led his nation into a bit
of a slump around 1330BC, but Moses is not associated with him.
Following him were the politically insignificant reigns of Smenkhkare,
Tutankhamun, and Aya; then a renaissance began with Tutankhamun's
general Harenhab and continued into the 19th Dynasty with Ramses I and
Sethi I. Ramses II then had one of the most successful and long-
lasting reigns of any king. He is the one typically associated with
Moses. Although the Egyptian nation began a very leisurely decline
after him, there is no evidence of any startling or abrupt economic
crash.
Ramses was known for his military expansion of Egyptian territory. It
would not surprise me if the Hebrews had actually left Egypt as part
and parcel of the Egyptian armies foraying into Palestine on one or
other of Ramses military escapes, and forgetting to return. That was
the so-called 'Exodus' for which the mythical Moses got undue credit.
#49.
How to tell if your wife is unfaithful:
Num. 5:12-27 "...If any man's wife go aside, and commit a
trespass...Then the priest shall...cause the woman to drink the bitter
water...it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done
trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse
shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell,
and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her
people."
Really! What happened to prayer? They couldn't pray to find out?
They couldn't ask this god who was regularly and intimately involved
with them? They couldn't get divine guidance before the marriage, so
they picked someone who would love them and be true to them?
The Bible writers had to make up lies about drinking potions because
of the impotence of their god?
#50.
Num. 6:1-3 "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the
children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall
separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves
unto the LORD: He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink,
and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink,
neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or
dried."
Jesus, more likely a Nazarite than a Nazarene, broke this one. At the
last supper, while filling his disciples full of wine, he said:
Mat. 26:29 "But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this
fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my
Father's kingdom."
But on the cross, he broke this vow:
Joh. 19:29-30 "Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they
filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to
his mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It
is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

Actually, it looks more like an abortifacient (drug to produce an
abortion) to me. It basically seems to read as "if a woman sleeps around
and becomes pregnant, give her this drink and she'll abort the baby."

Her THIGH rots? She becomes a curse because of a rotten thigh? WTF?????

Husbands are always innocent! Didn't you know that? It's God's Law!

Husbands are always innocent! Didn't you know that? It's God's Law!
The husband is the head of the household and the women are his
possessions.

Was that "tradition" or god's law?

Is there a difference when it comes to the OT?! ;)

My friend, Church of Christ, claims some of these things were just
traditions and had nothing to do with god's law. I don't know how to answer
her when she says things like that. :(

How to tell if your wife is unfaithful:
Num. 5:12-27 "...If any man's wife go aside, and commit a
trespass...Then the priest shall...cause the woman to drink the
bitter
water...it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done
trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse
shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell,
and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her
people."

Her THIGH rots? She becomes a curse because of a rotten thigh? WTF?????

How did this god say to tell if a husband was unfaithful? And what rot's
off of him? I'm almost afraid to ask.

you kind of did ask, mang.
