Why There's No Design #70 |

warned. The 1918 pandemic claimed 50 million lives, and experts in The
Lancet predict the toll today would be higher than this, despite
medical advances."
Did a loving divine designer create a world where a virus arising out
of the blue could destroy 60 million innocent lives?
Or is the more intelligent position the one that logically deduces from
the best available evidence that there's no design?

these three simple rules and no pandemic will come near you let alone
kill you. The supposed 60 million innocent lives will probably be

The problem is not God. It is losers who want something for nothing.

It read to me as one more of a million points that refute the claim to

I'd have to give you a big YES on that. First reason- it doesn't
exist. Second reason- it's the brainwashed, especially the various
fundies that are the problem.

dilemna for a believer than a nonbeliever.

There are arrogant believers, and there are arrogant nonbelievers. An

blaming something else, or not blaming something at all. It's not
possible to blame something that you think does not exist.
You probably can't understand that because you have that gawd delusion
narrowing your perspective.
Maybe the whole purpose
of your life is an example to others. Ponder that.
And for all you know, anybody you rail at in a posting may be a great
example for others, and if it wasn't for the huge blind spot in your
view of the world, you might learn something yourself. Maybe you
should ponder some things for yourself, you seem to be insulting
someone for being arrogant, and it is in an arrogant manner. You are
making pretty strong claims about what will save you from a pandemic,
but it sounds like how to minimize your chances of getting a cold.
Do you have evidence that the 50 million people killed in 1918 were
all dirty, malnourished, and moronic?
Go ask your preacher what to say next. Maybe use that free will of
yours to figure out there is no reason to believe in god.

The best thing about religious arguments is that they do not require
the elements of fact, evidence, or reasoning. Anything in the universe
can be explained away when one starts from the belief in something that
offers no proof of its own existence. So we're left only with god's
will and his annoying habit of working in mysterious ways.
The most regrettable thing about this argument is to wonder how far
advanced we might be at this point in our history if our people's
heads weren't filled with such nonsense. We might have developed cures
for all of these viruses and building a vehicle to land on the moon
might be something an average teenager can do for a high school science
project.
