Wife Swap |
Anyone catch it this week? Atheist mother switched families with
fundamentalist mother? The atheist mother was a tatooed head shaven
woman who was raised as a Mormon. Was she ever good. And smart. But the
fundy family...it's fascinating to me. I don't know anyone like that,
and to go in their homes and see the intentionally oppressive way that
they raise their children is revealing. Seems like child abuse to me.
I liked the part where the atheist husband wore a nun's habit and devil
horns for Halloween, and freaked out the fundy woman.

Near the end, she said that when she found out that they were atheists, she
was afraid - she thought they would be praying to demons or something, (her
words).
Ignorance is a requirement for membership in the holier than thou club.

I missed it because, if it's the one I saw in the listings recently, they did
not describe the woman as an atheist.

The whole family was, kids and all. The kids (quite young) all played
instruments, and the fundie woman made them compose a song about Jesus.

Sounds good. Is it available on the 'net somewhere?
Mind you, that said, I like wife swapping. I got a dishwasher and a
microwave for mine....

Was it as good as the raging fundy woman on "Trading Spouses"?

I think that woman's behavior may have been symptomatic of fat embolisms hitting
her brain.

I saw that too. I think this one was just as jaw dropping, in a subtler
way.
The motivation for these Christians to appear on TV seems to be to
spread the Word to those unfortunate godforsaken families that don't
have it, and they come across like complete jackasses. I wonder if they
seem normal to any theists watching the show, because if I was in child
services in their area I'd have a case worker over there the next day.
