Object: Wikipedia Censoring?
Greetings,
I've been working on a Wikipedia article and page about the "Seven
Heavenly Objects" which I first created in Wikipedia, and it seems
that someone at Wiki might be trying to censor some of my writings and
changes on the page...
Is Wikipedia really censorship free, or is there some moderator guy
there at the place where the servers reside that can over-write
changes that people make to the pages that they actually started
and make changes to?
The page I've been working on is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_heavenly_objects
Can anyone around here pull up the above page at the present time, or
does it come up with the following error:
"Sorry- we have a problem...
The wikimedia.org servers are currently overloaded, or down.
Hopefully this will be fixed soon; please check back in a few minutes,
as the problem is most likely temporary"

Anybody can edit the articles. Click on the history tab at the top if you
want to see who's made changes.

No problem pulling it up. Sometimes, servers do get overloaded. Probably
people looking up stuff about the Vatican and the process of selecting a
new pope.

The Mel Etitis fellow sent me the following message, after having
deleted a bunch of text that I added:
"Sorry not to have replied to your e-mail i saw it at about the same
time I saw the changes to the page. The problem with the new material
is in part what I'm worried about throughout the article: it seems to
be pitched at primary-school children."
So, he's deleting stuff that I've added, playing moderator as such,
claiming that what I added was "too simplistic" or superfluous.

Well, I agree that Wikipedia is not aimed at children, so I can see his
point. Many Wiki articles are subject to back and forth battles. Really
you have to read the archived versions just to get both sides of an
issue. There is also a forum for each article where verbal battles can
rage.

Here's what I got (copy/paste)
Seven heavenly objects
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Ancient Earth-centred model of the universeThe Seven heavenly objects
are the bright objects in the sky which can be seen with the naked eye
from anywhere on the Earth: the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter,
and Saturn, the Sun, and Moon
The days of the week are named after them in many cultures. They were
sometimes considered to be living beings, and myths were created
concerning how they came to be, and what they were supposed to be
like, based on their movements in the sky, their physical
characteristics, and the supposed influences they have on our planet
and its inhabitants.

I got it.
However, my beef is not with Wikipedia, rather with the author, who
went off on a tangent about the names of days in Romance languages,
when the English words for our days are GERMANIC in origin, not
French, not Spanish, not Italian.
cf the Germanic origins of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to
see which deities those days were -- and more importantly were not --
named for.

The great thing about Wikipedia is that everyone can contribute by
editing pages.
The bad thing about Wikipedia is that everyone can disrupt by editing
pages.
There are several people who like to just deface entries at random, or
deface any entry they dislike. There are whole sections devoted to
this at the site.
