I thought the story goes that the anti-christ would falsely claim to
be christ for power or whatever those reasons were, something to do
with ultimately getting souls for satan I would guess. If he's satan's
lackie then I would think he would be a believer in god. I have
managed to forget some of those details from the bible [yet so many
remain...] so I can't be sure.
Anyway. I don't think any self-respecting atheist would pretend to be
christ unless he's in it for some really twisted enjoyment. Picture
it: Hundreds of thousands are on hands and knees in awe as the christ
figure overlooks them from a high balcony.
"My children," he begins, "your piety has brought you to this place,
on this glorious day. And now is the time for me to reveal to you the
truth." Smiles dripping of teary joy spring from the masses. He
continues, "you are part of something far greater than what you see
here. This far greater thing astounds to no end. The truth of this
greater thing, my children, is that you are part of the most guillible
lot to ever walk upon this Earth! I am not this christ from heaven you
worship. My name is Anthony and I'm from Portland, Oregon." Gasps and
cries rise up from the crowd as Anthony laughs himself into a
heart-attack. No other could have died a happier death.
Never mind me when I get in this sort of mood. The kind when I'm full
of myself and think I'm actually clever.

No, of course not, that would make him too easy to spot. Instead,
he'll proclaim himself to be a conservative Christian, and will have
the credentials of coming from a well-to-do, established family in one
of the more conservative parts of the country, say Texas or Oklahoma
or somewhere down south. He'll schlep through life leaving behind a
questionable record of service, work his way up through the political
system to some high office like governor or president. Once there,
he'll play on people's fears and prejudices, rallying them against
people whose religion or ethnicity or sexual preference is somehow
foreign and "unchristian," and will justify terroristic wars by flimsy
pretexts, overruling the objections of conscientious citizens and
allies.
Meanwhile, he will quietly sneak in policies that reduce consumer and
environmental protections, and will follow the Old Testament practice
of giving the rich preferential treatment over the poor and helpless.
He will sell the public "bargain basement government" by significantly
cutting taxes, thus buying himself tremendous popularity while
simultaneously burying our country's future under an unimaginable
burden of debt. And, to reward his Christian supporters, he will push
legislation through Congress that, under the guise of involving
Christian organizations in government services, will
actually--surprise surprise--make it legal to use taxpayer dollars to
discriminate against conservative Christians and other religious
groups. And all the while, Christian leaders will support him and
defend him and excuse whatever he does or tries to do. He is, after
all, diabolically clever and slippery.
Say, this *is* all just a myth, isn't it? Suddenly, I've got a bad
feeling...

Well poot. Looks like all the good slams to your silly question have
been used. :) So I will just point out that if he didn't "believe" he
wouldn't have any interest in your holy war now would he. Besides you
bibble gives you the answer. I'm surprised that you didn't look there
first. Your anti-christ is supposed to be a religious leader who
gathers a big following before revealing himself. I'm not even a
bibble scholar and I knew that.

Aunt Christ is a 'she'. She is planning on taking over the world
so she can wage a war against some supernatural fella, but she
does not believe any of it. So what is the name for someone who
does not believe in anything, without bothering to figure out the
details?

Another interesting question is does Spider Man leave sticky marks all
over the buildings he climbs?
Did anyone ever walk on Superman's cape...twice?
Lois?
Hmmm...you just know she answered his bone phone (credit to Craig

It's your belief - you decide.
It doesnt make sense to ask people who dont believe in "the Anti
Christ" what he will be.
Think about it a few minutes and see if you agree.

Of course not. You seem to forget your Satan is a christian, just
not a practicing one.

Most likely an "antichrist" would be "anti something they believed
in." Therefore, an atheist could not, by definition, be the
antichrist. Unless, of course those krazy khristers wanted to define
an atheist as such...then it would have to be true. Heh.
Atheists aren't opposed to someone practicing a religion. I'm not,...
practice away...just don't make me or mine pay for it, accept it, or
participate in it. Mmmkay?

See what wisdom you can draw from the bible. I believe that the
Anti-Christ will not acknowledge God, which speaks for being an
atheist, but perhaps, as the Anti-Christ is thought to be in an
alliance with Lucifer, he would know of God's existence and thus
cannot be an atheist in the technical sense of not believing in the
existence of gods.
So it's an even race. You could spend some time thinking on it, but
you must understand that there are more important matters to worry
about. Such as: 'Will Cloud and Aeris meet again in Advent Children?'

You know, that sets me to wondering what religions Superman, Jack
Skellington, and Howard the Duck practice, if any.

Howard the Duck would _have_ to be an atheist. I mean, he has a hard
time believing in things/people that are getting right in his face....

Have to say that Jack Skellington would be considered a theist as he does use
the expression "My god!"

What's an Anti-Christ?
There no proof of one.
I'm not scared of the "Anti-Christ" anyway. My name's not Christ.

Don't know, are figments of diseased imaginations atheistic, or
theistic?
