I've been getting my apartment-supplied basic cable tv, from which channels
have been successively pared away with each change of hands of the cable tv
contract. Starting with upwards of 60 channels, and finally getting down
over five years to a mere 12 channels worth watching, plus a dozen or so
local channels. Oh, how I've suffered!

But tonight, on the eve of Yom Kippur, I accidentally surfed to one of my
deactivated channels, and behold! It was active! Now my watchable channels
have multiplied 6-fold, through no action of my own. At this very moment I'm
watching The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Like he did so long ago, at
Jericho, God just made a wall fall down!

It's a Yom Kippur miracle, and I'm not even Jewish.

Of course, who knows but that I may lose them all again by Succoth.
