Texas Minister Regrets Biting Police Officer
POSTED: 7:58 am EDT October 6, 2004
RICHMOND, Texas -- A Texas minister said if he could go back in time,
he would have just signed the ticket he was given during a traffic
stop.
Instead, the Rev. Curtis Lucas will spend 10 years on probation -- for
biting the officer who gave him the ticket.
Lucas had been pulled over last September for not having a front
license plate. When the officer tried to get Lucas to sign a ticket,
the pastor refused, resisted arrest and then bit the officer on the
finger.
Lucas was initially sentenced to two years in prison. But the Houston
Chronicle reports a judge reduced that to probation, community
service, fines and a stint in an anger management program.
